Lips, skin tone, and the dress just isn't right. It's hard to get the concept right, nobody likes in-built clothes on Pokemon, so a fashion being the theme already faces difficulty, but with EGL being so intrinsically elaborate and fancy, it gets harder. You don't want to go too far and over design, especially when the clothes are meant to be its body, but at the same time, excess frills and the like are what the concept demands.

Gothitelle isn't a sexy human shape, isn't readily available early on in game, and is a version exclusive so only 50% of players really had a chance to engage with it. Plus, the Reuniclus line is way cuter so it got more attention. It is weirdly shaped.

For the record, I think Gothitelle is way more interesting than Gardevoir, but it doesn't really try to appeal to people in the same way. It's only "Humanoid" in the loosest sense of the word.

This is a bit of a fraught question. Is something like Dwebble / Crustle a riff on Paras / Parasect or more its own thing? How about Blitzle and Ponyta? A lot of things don't perfectly line up.

For most lines that you CAN compare I like both for different reasons, though I will say that I like Pidove more than Pidgey and I like Woobat more than Zubat, and Trubbish/Garbodor are WAY better than Grimer/Muk.

Besides looking bad, these things also make it very difficult to do anything interesting with her art-wise. Her anatomy is so rigid, she can't pull off any poses at all. She can't even lie down, she'd just fall over trying and be unable to get up, and it wouldn't be cute either.

Her legs aren't that stubby if you look at them in Gen VI's pokedex. Turn on X or Y, go to her page in the pokedex, and flip her upside down and have a look for yourself. What bothers me about Gothitelle, Gardevior, and other pokémon like that is the weird ass clothing they appear to be wearing.
It makes no sense and in the case of feminine pokémon seems like it would actually hinder their movements. Like I can't imagine a Gardevior fighting well with those long drape-y things.
