A "battle box" sort of that lets you store and move mons between your main team and this one box, they don't get healed of course.
You basically carry this box around and can access it with a couple taps like amie and stuff, then you can swap around pokemon between regular boxes and the battle box.

It would let you train stuff a lot easier, lets you switch around eggs a lot fucking faster, etc, I don't know why game freak hasn't added something like this, the actual box system has improved a lot over the years but the method of accessing them is just as outdated as it was 20 years ago.

Just watch them decide to shiny lock the starters. People will spend weeks SR'ing for shiny starters, not knowing that they decided to make it impossible.

It gets even better when these are people dedicated to avoiding spoilers so they never go online to realize their folly. They'll just write it up to bad luck on their part.

Because these tend to be the least hostile threads on /vp/, and because I'm here anyway as I shiny hunt, if like to ask about natures as I've always gone for 5-6 IV shinies and EV trained them perfectly, but never cared about natures. Now that S/M are going to allow the fixing of poor IVs, if like to learn about how much natures change stats. Could someone give me an explanation as to how important/how many stat points natures give/take?

Natures are arguably more important than ivs. Easier to breed for too. I don't remember exactly, but I think its a 10% +\- to the stat. With the same evs, a +atk natured pokemon with 0 atk iv will still have a higher stat than a -atk nature with a 31iv.

It's not going to happen, i doubt it. If you were surfing and it spawned right in the upper corner, it might warp to where youre landing and vanish. It's more trouble than it's worth, your best bet is giving in and hatching.

Gastly's catch rate is so high a Quick Ball in gen 6 is a guaranteed catch. Earlier gens it's like a 99% chance to catch.

Haunter's a little riskier, though, but once your pokemon is Cursed, it can't use Curse again, and the Haunter will be at 50% health now, making it easier to catch

I was going to be a smartass and point out neither in X/Y or ORAS did that seem to apply whatsoever for all the starters you get, but I guess those white backgrounds don't count as cutscenes so I'll let you off on it.
Locking starters at this point is pretty much against tradition and they would be complete assholes if they do despite 6 gens of not doing so (well, 5 if you don't count R/B/Y where they CAN be shiny but virtually impossible to tell unless you transfer it forward). Even the long fucking ass cutscene from X/Y got a pass, but to be fair it still only showed them on that same white background.
You know, someone should ask Masuda. He'll probably reply "haha I don't know!", but it's worth a shot.

I took a look because I was curious, and it seems there are incentives for donating/subscribing, in that you get some amount of virtual currency for their channel.
You can then exchange that currency for a pokemon or some stream bullshit like an emote.

At least one of the streams awarded people currency for watching the stream (30 coins per hour, which means you'd need to watch for 33 hours to match the equivalent of a $1 donation), and twice that if you are "active in chat", presumably that means typing.
That same stream had a countdown timer bot in chat that told people when to hit the wondertrade button for a chance to trade with the stream bot.

It's practically free money for the bot owner.

Here we go, I'm really happy. Had to reset over the first one because it was timid, but this one is modest, thank God. That makes 268 SR + 688 SR = 956 SR to get a good nature shiny Dialga. That's still pretty lucky.

To get the groudon? 3 encounters. There was no danger because i could make it reappear, and my strategy was just "use ice beam and spam ultra balls"

To be able to do rng? 30-40 hours of setup. I had to catch an Illuminate Staryu, find a Blue Shard, trade for a Water Stone, evolve it, catch a Shroomish, level it up until it learns spore at level 50-something, catch a smeargle and sketch Spore onto it, get a White Flute, grind everything to level 55 or so, and after all that was done, bike back and forth until I found a shiny. And then i had to wait about a month because i didnt know how to find my secret id

My favorite part about shiny hunting is realizing that after hatching 1000+ eggs you have actually accomplished absolutely nothing. You are no closer to having a shiny now than you were 1000 eggs ago. The hours upon hours you've spent doing this have done nothing. Just wasted time. And there's nothing guaranteeing that you will ever get the shiny. You could hatch 10,000 eggs and still not get a shiny.

It's great to think about these things while shiny hunting. Keeps ones spirit up.

I actually got a shiny graveler once with a regular Pokeball. I was just grinding a bit in Victory Road in X in preparation for the Elite 4 (it was my first time), so I wasn't expecting it.

I also only had regular Pokeballs on me because I generally prefer the classic simple look over the others.

Anyways I managed to catch it before it exploded. I thought my luck was incredible. Then about two minutes later I encountered a shiny lickitung too.

Too bad I don't like either of those Pokemon much.

I get that it's different since whether a pokemon is shiny or not isn't determined by in-game timers but rather by the frame the game is on in that moment - so that it's really pre-determined the moment you get that seed - but in the long run without knowing the seed it's going to be shiny in around 1 in 8192 encounters.

I guess you could also argue that the inputs you're going to make in any other game are also pre-determined and so you were going to get that shiny all along, but that would still be the usual odds without knowledge of what is going to happen.

Okay yeah I'm kind of talking out of my ass at this point, you see what I mean though I hope -there's still a probability but it's just different to other cases since you can manipulate it so easily.

Emerald is just a red herring for that gen, all the other four games are perfectly fine (given not dead batteries for R/S) and imo provide the most satisfying shiny hunting experience.
I actually found a "legit" Smeargle in Emerald, at least as legit as it can get without RNG abusing. Granted, it wasn't on an actual cartridge, but the idea remains to an extent. Each time I was done with the session I made a save state of whenever I finished at. Next time I started I loaded that so in a way I was bypassing the fucked up RNG and the frames were still being fresh each time because I continued from where I left off.

I would get it in the wild if only it weren't so damn rare in every game it's in. The most reliable way I know of is with repel trick on Frost Mountain on winter in 5th gen, but I tried it once and the encounters were so few and far between that I ditched it almost immediately.

I like Cryogonal's shiny still. It's not super flashy but the orange is a nice contrast from the original blue features.
