Doing Nuzlockes, I've always wanted to do some comics to accompany them but I'm a bit shit at anything that isn't some static pose. But I've got two characters.
This one is Marie, who is my character who appears in my run of Perfect Platinum, FireRed, Y, Alpha Sapphire, and eventually Sun. Some of the runs need finishing, and one needs to be completely redone after losing the notes. But I did beat FireRed.

She can understand Pokemon due to family bloodline shit. Witch curse of some sort. Kind of like inheriting Aura powers.
There's only a little canon-fucking I do with this character. She's the estranged daughter of Lysandre, having not seen him for nearly 10 years. But that's not known for a while in the story.

I could post my other Nuzlocke protagonist if anyone is interested.

When it comes to Nuzlocke comics, it usually best to stick to "you can understand Pokemon just because lol comic" rather than trying to add additional backstory.

It just kind of clutters up the comic and it's really necessary. If someones going to read a nuzlocke and there's Pokemon talking, people generally just kind of accept that as norm. There's no need to explain why.

Street smart loudmouth whose words writes checks his ass can't cash. Quick witted but not smart, very good at agitating people(usually people you don't want to agitate). Dresses super loudly. Fairly gullible, lets himself get fooled by anything that could possible end up making him a lot of money (get-rich-quick schemes, 1 millionth visitor ads, etc).

>Personality:
Loyal as fuck. Lives by the creed "ride or die". Will stick up for anyone who's done good by him. Overconfident about everything (chihuahua that thinks he's a pitbull), charismatic, unique, people intrinsically know that striking up a conversation with him will lead to something entertaining coming out of his mouth whether it's a genuine conversation or dumb ramblings. Pretty good at redirecting people's attention (knows two whole up-close magic tricks, fairly decent at singing, and great at running away). The perfect human distraction if you ever need one in a pinch. Also has a lot of important contacts from his job.

>Team:
New trainer, only has one pokemon, Sableye. He bought it from some dude in Lumiose because he thought it would look cool in his music video he swore would make him a big star. Sableye ended up being a bro.

Never officially won a pokemon battle. Sableye has either been used for distraction(confuse ray, double team, etc) prior to running away or used against competent trainers. It's been suggested he battle against newbie trainers but he doesn't want to because "If I beat a little kid people will be saying 'what are you doing battling a ten year old?' and if I lose people will be saying 'bro, how you gonna lose to a kid, I got this all recorded, this shit is going on the internet'"

But the first one takes place in johto is about this boyfriend girlfriend pair that have to go on a pokéquest to catch this weird time pokemon that happened because the pokemon professor boned a xatu.

The second one is in Sinnoh and is about these two people who don't like each other TWIST- one of them has been possessed by a legendary the whole time and when they get separated, the other has to save him.

Then the third one is about this kid who was best friends with a Gastly, and his dream was to be a pokemon champ- but he gets hit by a car and is in a coma for years. The Gastly then possesses his friend's comatose body in order to fulfill his dream for him.

I didn't make this thread, but the ones I was making for a while till about June were largely about an actual RP group we've started in a Discord. I can post details if you want, been a while since we've advertised and things are going good mostly, but we could use some new members while we recycle some that weren't active for more than a second.

That said, playing yourself is a fine idea, but in a sense that's still an OC. One of my characters, Oktavius, is literally me with some aspects exaggerated and somewhat stylized. This one, Maple, isn't, but is still pretty close and very easy for me to identify with, and it's fun to try something a little different like that. She's my main, as well. And even as for Oktavius's case, I think self-inserts are great as long as you're honest with your own flaws and character.

Anyway, to introduce her in this thread. Momiji Nakamoto, nicknamed "Maple", is a little stereotypical as a trainer, admittedly, but she's someone I have fun playing. Classified as a Rising Star, she aspires to become a champion on the competitive field, and is a complete hothead in any kind of battle, using risky tactics regardless of if she's playing Stall or HO or whatever format. Especially in Quests, she goes for the first idea that pops into her head, something almost always highly dangerous albeit decently intuitive, but she puts all her stock in that course of action right then and there, and tries to see it to the end even if she starts to realize how incorrect it may have been.
Only 10 years old, she began her journey in Sileda with only a Larvitar and Staryu (I think this was six real-life months ago), and by now has a big chunk of a formidable team built up.

There's like one active guy who's a real adult, though he does get a lotta love and is seen by a lotta the characters as a cool dad, even though he's only in his late 20s.

I-I don't think we have too many edgy teens. Also your style is fucking on-point, even the Drifblim you had a unique way of drawing, the eyes being within a huge X is a really nice touch, makes the face look less blank and more threatening. All of its features flow together with those smooth as fuck lines.

How do you know how to draw all those different kinds of creatures and bodily structures? You've clearly put an amazing amount of time in learning and even in each drawing, I'd get to the second Pokémon and start getting sloppy and go for simple poses and angles.

I wanted to move tyrantrum so he was facing slightly forward like Bastidon, but I just sorta settled.
I tend to cheat when I want to avoid getting sloppy. Draw the picture then just reduce the image size to 75% it makes everything look cleaner.

Hey, duck fella, sorry about that. I went to do some work right after I posted links, I caught you a little too late. I'm sorry you had to come into such a lackluster welcome, we do have a surplus of members that kinda just came in and never did much.

I'll try my best to get you integrated quickly, I'm thinking of holding a somewhat short Quest for characters who have never yet been used. Should be a good way to capture things and get a head-start on progressing people.
