Why is Bug super-effective on Dark?
I've seen the explaination that bugs live in darkness, but this makes no sense because "Dark" is supposed to be the "evil" type and not actual darkness. So why the type advantage?
bugs are good anon
bugs were shit and that was a way to make them less shit. unfortunately they're still shit

Because bugs don't give a shit about how evil you are, they're just going to fuck your shit up regardless.
Beetles are very associated with heroes in Japan, maybe because of that
Bugs = Kamen Rider
Dark = villains

Bugs also live under rocks and in the ground, by that logic bug should be super effective against those types too.
because hurr le kamen rider meme

Psychic's weaknesses: Bug, Dark, Ghost (3 common fears)
Bugs are a "real" fear, so they beat Dark
Dark is a more conceptual fear, but still more real than ghosts, so it beats ghost

In Japan bugs symbolize heroism, see karmen rider. Heroism beats evil.
beetles = lawful good
dark = chaotic evil

this
I like to think there's a sliding scale of typing; pure elements at one side like the usage of water/fire/grass/earth in mythology, ancient China/Greece etc. On the other side is states of mind, like fighting or dark or psychic which aren't concrete things so much as ways of fighting.
Bugs are in the middle. They're organic, actual things but bugs themselves operate in very different ways from other intelligent beings. Reading a bug type's mind is like reading the mind of a colony of ants; the person trying would get overwhelmed. Likewise, trying to pull tricks on a bug would be pointless, like >>28390262 says.

bugs are heroes
dark is evil
hero always beats evil
