Did they touch and legendary or mythical's typings? I feel like they just didn't want to change it because of their status as such. Not a good reason, but it's why I think they didn't do it.

I think Darkrai would make more sense gaining Ghost. It already basically acts like a Ghost anyway, and that would also make Darkrai and Cresselia balanced against each other.
