I remember all 762 Pokemon. I played all the games. I'm getting moon. The mainline games are 100000000000000000000000x better than go. I never have fun with go but I always have fun with the mainline games. I think sun and moon will be the best video games of all time. I'm also excited for gen 8 on the nx. I think the Pokemon designs improve each gen. I like almost all the gen 7 Pokemon except for bruxish,comfey,boundsweat, eltigre(if it's real) and entermaid(if it's real).

I only know a few pokemon between gen 3-6 but I know every Kanto pokemon and sun and moon pokemon

I wanted to try PGO to see what the buzz was all about but my phone cant play it. After observing everyone else that can play it, ive concluded that it looks mediocre and you cant even battle other people. What wouldve been great is if they made a feature that any person you pass by thats on your same skill level and it forced you to battle each other(like how the games do with the npcs). At least i like that idea..i like that it introduced new people into the franchise but i hate how they never play the actual games and then pretend to be a fan

I think Go is bullshit, but the hype surrounding it got me back into Pokemon again. I started out playing Pokemon Green on my phone while walking to/from work, now I'm playing HeartGold/SoulSilver on my DS while walking to/from work and during my lunch breaks, and playing Pokemon TCG Online after work. In Gen 1, I didn't believe the game when it said the Master Ball would catch anything without fail, so I went and fished up the highest leveled Pokemon I could find to test it out. Then I spent the rest of the game wondering when they'd finally show up in the mart.
In Gen 2, I ran into a green Zubat in Ilex Forest and ran away from it thinking "Mr. Skyscraper" was going to come play the spooky slow version of the "Follow Me!" theme again if I stuck around.

Gen 1 is mediocre (with nostalgia vision off). Gen 6 is shit. Gen 5 is pretty good.

I hate myself because I never grew out of pokemon.

You know what pisses me off? I mean really pisses me off? The 3DS only has 96 MB of memory available for games, but an average phone has several gigabytes worth, but they're never going to officially port the games so they're locked down to proprietary Nintendo software. I've participated in the video game championship series, and have played in a competitive setting against a former VGC US National Champion.

I can easily prove it Pokémon go fucking sucks and is the worst thing to happen to this planet. I've played every Pokémon game Since gold and silver. fuck generation one. If I had to make a pokemon team it would consist of Torterra, Gengar, Volcarona, Hydreigon, Togekiss and Ampharos, and I've clocked in a total of approximately 3000+ hours in both mainline and side pokemon games alike. When it was announced that the servers were going down for online play in BW, I panicked and genned in all 649 pokemon at the time, all perfect, all shiny, and spent 2 weeks transferring them over to XY through pokebank, painstakingly making them all legit enough to pass through pokebank's standards. I now have a shiny living dex that I'm looking forward to expanding on when Sun and Moon are released. Pic related is my collection of all the pokemon games that I have found in a 5 minute search I did along with their respective consoles. This pictures excludes a few plushies and a lot of posters that I have, too.

You are full of shit. RAM will definitely not be the limiting factor in either situation:

- 3DS games are optimized for the low RAM, and in a game like Pokemon, there is no reason whatsoever to need more than 96 MB at any given time. It'll load data from the cartridge when necessary.

- Likewise, phones can just cache parts of the rom into its RAM and just keep the rest on the SD card until needed. SD cards are pretty fast, so you could even just link the RAM mapping 1:1 to the 3DS's RAM usage (only loading into RAM when 3DS would load into RAM) and you'd only need 96 MB + whatever's required for graphics emulation and overhead, only getting some slight stutters when changing areas and entering combat (i.e., when it's loading new data). (Not sure how often it reads other data from the cartridge, but you could keep a small cache to solve any stutters resulting from that.) You just need enough space for the ROM on the SD card, but that should not be a problem.

- Still, 3DS emulation will be slow unless someone invests a lot of time into optimizing it. The problem is that you're emulating things; for every little thing the 3DS does you have to check what it does and convert it instructions the host system accepts. Traditionally people said you need 3-4x the processing power on the host system for this, but the addition of proper GPUs to consoles/handhelds has made this more complicated (as GPUs are specialized hardware and your phone probably won't be able to execute its instructions anywhere near as fast). There exist ways to optimize this, but it'd take a LOT of work.

- Now, building natively for smartphones would erase most of the slowdown mentioned above. However, there will be two issues: (1) It features general-purpose hardware, not Nintendo-specified hardware specialized for the kind of games you'd play on a 3DS, meaning you would need far more expensive hardware for the same result, and (2) There is tons, tons and TONS of overhead. Have you ever wondered why PCs require much, much better specs than consoles to run the same games at the same settings? It's because due to the inconsistent hardware and lack of focus on a single application (you can run five games at the same time if you wanted to), a lot of hardware power is lost to overhead. 3DS games can talk directly to its hardware; they know what it is and there will be no surprises. Try this on PC, and the game will crash for at least half of the users. Fragmentation of the smartphone market is even worse; you absolutely have to rely on lower-level software to resolve the things you just can't waste the time and resources on to specialize for, and these 'middlemen' eat tons of your resources, in addition to forcing you to write inefficient algorithms because you can't specialize for the hardware. It also adds a lot of other problems for developers: Due to inconsistent specs and even software (OS changing a lot, stuff like that), there are tons and tons more edge cases to keep in mind and debug. Creating something on the same scale would suddenly cost a lot more time, assuming you want to keep up the Nintendo standard of quality.

TL;DR: Building for your own hardware (or even any non-dynamic hardware) requires less effort for better results. It's definitely the preferable option for Nintendo.
