Water compaction would have been nearly useless before the physical/special split since all water type attacks were special, so raising defense, even if by 2, would be useless for a mon weak to water to begin with. Now that there are physical water moves it has SOME use.

Most of the others would have been unthinkable in prior gens tho, I agree.

About half of these would be kinda broken in Gen 3 or 4 but you have to remember some of these are on low BST Pokemon. By that logic, Gen 3 Speed Boost is OP despite only being on Yanma and Ninjask. Most of these fit right at home in 5. None of these are even making the power creep worse since the most power creeped Megas far surpass almost all of these abilities anyway.
