What are your favorite Pokémon-like games/PokéClones?
I actually enjoyed Youkai Watch, even if the battles go on auto pilot.

Fossil Fighters was fun
But my favorite will always be Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 for the game boy. Thought technically it isn't a clone since the DQ series did the whole taming monsters for battle thing first, but I played Pokemon before I played it so I'm sayin' it counts in this context.

I don't know any 'pokeclones' except for Digimon and Yoghurt AppleWatch.

Yeah, I really liked Yokai Watch. I thought the graphics and scenery were really fun to wander through, and I liked the monster designs. They were silly and fun.

LBX is fun, I enjoyed the customization of the boys.

I wanted to get into Yokai but the gameplay just felt a little off to me. I can't put my finger on exactly what it was.
Also it got a bit too grindy for my tastes.

The only part I really hated about Youkai Watch is how random befriending is. Sometimes I had to grind for twenty minutes to finally get a certain monster to join me.

Yeah, this was a big problem for me. The befriending almost seemed entirely random, and I hated having to figure out which yokai wanted which item. I didn't have internet access at the time when I played, so it was a real pain figuring it out the trial-and-error method.
Shin Megami Tensei, Digimon and Metabots
Zatch Bell counts too, right?

There was at least some logic to the food sometimes (ice youkai wants shaved ice, fish youkai get mad if you feed them fish, kappas love cucumbers because folklore etc), but yeah, it was hard to guess sometimes. And even with food, you could fight a youkai twenty times without it joining you. And this includes unique boss ones you can only fight once a day.
