Is there a difference between them, except for the pentagram?
I think that, as previously gens, if we transfer them to Gen VII the caught area will probably be called "Hoenn" and they will lose their pentagram.
So they are virtually the same thing?

Well, RS pokemon could only have abilities available in gen 3, while ORAS pokemon can have ones from 4, 5, and 6.

The abilities get retconned, I think, only some of the moveset remain, and if you forgot them, they are gone forever.

Well, I've researched, in Gen VII both of them won't really have any differences.
I think it will be the same thing for Red/FireRed(if it gets released).
