The pokemon website says that some pokemon in trials are different in other versions(under the place that describes time differences), should we assune lurantis is sun exclusive as well, since it and fomantis always talk about sleeping all night like gumshoos

What I want to know is what happens if you do the Gumshoos/Raticate trial during the day in Moon. Does Gumshoos appear because it's technically daytime?

I don't know about lurantis, but didn't it say its prevo was nocturnal and it just slept during the day while photosynthesising. It'd be kinda weird from a battle standpoint. Lurantis and formantis aren't active in the day, but there strategies would optimally be sunny day related in a totem battle. That or it just has no bearing.

Pretty much this. I think that at least one trial per island will have a different totem Pokemon at the end depending on the game.
