Fuck off with your every Pokemon has to be half steel type and have three design gimmicks to be interesting bullshit, Sleepy Koala is my favorite gen 7 Pokemon so far because he's got some reservation about him.

It's not a bad design, it's a decent concept, is just not special. It isn't good enough to be loved, not bad enough to be hated. In a way, it's the worst kind of Pokémon. People still talk about Pokémon like Garbadour and Garchomp, but nobody cares about the Mightyenas and Noctowls.

Saying it's forgettable isn't the same as saying it is bad.

It just hasn't really featured much since it was first shown and got quite a low key reveal. Being a pure Normal doesn't help it either.

Komala is actually pretty interesting competitively considering his excellent ability and the fact it learns Rapid Spin. I imagine it is ignored because people would rather see its evolution before giving a judgment.

Not much to talk about. it clearly has an evolution. Until we see that we can't really consider it.

Knowing GameFreak the evolution will probably have a negative ability related to sleep that will make it useless.
