What has this company done wrong in its history, in your opinion?

I'll start:

>Took back TCG from Wizards in 2001 only to shit it up with crappy holofoils and changed the rules years later to make the game harder to play for veterans, also nullifying the use of those cards
>Took the Pokemon Anime dub license away from 4Kids by force (Pokemon being the one Anime 4Kids was generally fairly good at dubbing for its first 8 years), then recasting all the main characters with cheaper, cost cutting actors, including Sarah Natochenny who had never done any English dubbing before taking over as the current voice of Ash in the dub.
>Keeping JCC as the script writer from the last few 4Kids seasons, while simultaneously dumping the other 4Kids writers to save money, and in addition, promoting him to chief script adapter. Also, letting him butcher Team Rocket's dialogue for years now through XYZ's dub, and giving Ash etc. awkward slang that no kids their ages would say in real life.
>Suing fan Ramar Larkin Jones for $4,000 dollars because TPCi were trying to make a quick buck despite him taking down his Pokemon themed party because they forced him too (which, let's be real, there are plenty of Pokemon themed parties elsewhere TPCi could target, if they were so concerned about that).
>Taking down Pokemon ReOrchestrated creator's music despite the creator owning the rights to the music he composed based off the games himself.
>Replacing more of the Japanese OST by Shinji Miyazaki in the Anime & Movies dubs than 4Kids ever did when they had Pokemon since Season 17 & Movie 17 began, replacing it with awkward elevator, UFO, and faux opera themes instead by Ed Goldfarb.

Is there a reason anyone should like these guys, and why is the answer, no?
>>
>>28335428
Also:
>Keeping the Ash eyes staring in your soul with old Serena design title card as opposed to being like the Japanese Version and changing the title card to the other 13 the Japanese Version has used
>Tom Wayland was a rapist who TPCi hired to direct their DuArt dub of Pokemon for 7.5 years
>The unprofessional and immature, petty behavior much of the TPCi dub cast has exhibited on social media.
>>
Don't forget the shitshow that is VGC

>TCG
This. I love pokemon to death but god damn does its tcg suck ass. Yugioh for is the only card game worth playing.

Do go on: I'm curious how they effed up VGC, not aware of this.

Heck, I like ygo but it's pretty bad

Listening to people sperg about the English localization of the Pokemon cartoon is funny.

Tell me more about this social media unprofessionalism

4Kids' VA work may have been a bit more passionate but it was also obsessively loud, screechy, shouty, funny accent-y, referencey, and just plain goofy for the sake of goofiness. I honestly prefer a weaker dub over a more obnoxious dub.

TPCi is no better and does this, too.

"The TPCi cast?

Unprofessionals.

Michele Knotz (Jessie, May, Misty) - Attacks fans who express their opinion that Rachael Lillis was the better Jessie/Misty, her boyfriend harasses and mudslings at Eric Stuart over a misquoted (Eric expressed relief that no one at Pokemon Worlds 2015 was hurt from two teens who had guns in their car trunk), and blocks anyone who attempts to reason with her. Kicked people out of her fanclub who didn't like her flaming those who didn't like her acting. Raged at the admins at Behind the Voice Actors to take down her image and her voice samples (have since put them back on regardless).

James Carter Cathcart (James, Meowth, Professor Oak, Gary Oak) - Went behind 4kids' back and accepted to jump ship from the company after TPCi offered him to continue his job (stealing roles of James, Prof. Oak and Meowth). Basically a traitor. Signs up on Pokemon fan sites to stroke his own ego. Had the audacity to shit on Maddie Blaustein before she died.

Sarah Natochenny (Ash Ketchum) - Promotes and smokes cigarettes. I can respect people's decisions but c'mon, it's not good and everyone knows it. The reasoning she quotes from her friend.. his reasoning is immature in itself. Says anyone who doesn't like her Ash is just a "haters gonna hate" person. C'mon man.

Bill Rogers (Brock) - Trolled Serebii when TPCi forced the 4Kids crew out to save money and put down fans who wanted the 4Kids crew to stay, and then years later in an interview with AnimeAmerica, he admitted he was lying then. TPCi also told him to say the 4Kids actors didn't want to dub the show anymore (k ima lie s'more for my job). Also lied about Tom Wayland still working on dubs/shows in New York when he doesn't do jack."
>>
>Took back TCG from Wizards in 2001 only to shit it up with crappy holofoils and changed the rules years later to make the game harder to play for veterans, also nullifying the use of those cards
Wizards wanted to run the game like Magic, with core sets of reprints and a "play the cards as written" philosophy. The earliest international tournaments showed why this was a problem, since the American players were using different rulings and formats than the rest of the world.

TPC managed to streamline the global rules enough that we can have World Championships that run smoothly without a whole lot of confusion.
>>
>>28336030
TPCi also managed to change the rules, nullify the usage of previous WoTC cards and some of their earlier cards w/Nintendo, and doesn't treat TCG fans with much respect from what I've heard.

Pros and cons to both sides, desu.
>>
>>28336013

I know Sarah personally and she is an amicable cat lover. Can't say accusing people of being haters is a very vile thing to say to anti-fans. Also Ash is boring regardless of the voice, and her Buneary is delicious.
>>
>>28336105
"Haters gonna hate"
"Be nice and I'll do the voice"

Really not the most mature responses, either, though...just saying.

>Ash boring regardless of the voice

That's your opinion, but my opinion is Veronica put way more life as well as character in the role. She didn't want to leave, TPCi forced her out, and that's just messed up.
>>
They didn't sue a fan for throwing a party, they sued a bar owner for doing an unlicensed Pokemon promotion in order to draw the PAX crowd to his business.
>>
>>28335724
Its just mega evolution
>>
>>28336073
>nullify the usage of previous WoTC cards and some of their earlier cards w/Nintendo
...you mean "rotation"? Because that was something implemented during the Wizards of the Coast era (Base-Fossil were rotated out during gen 2).
>>
>>28336157

I wish Veronica didn't have to do that thing where Ash sounded all creaky and squeaky. Didn't they make her change it from how it was in the first season? That was 4Kids fuckery let me tell ya.
>>
>>28335708
>Yu-Gi-Oh better than M:TG
Shit taste detected.
>>
>>28336174
I've heard TPCi blocked the general public from entering the 2016 VGC or something, though...that true?

>>28336164
I understand that, but Jones took it down at their request, and TPCi still fined him $4,000 for no real reason. Ramar had to raise a fundraiser just to pay that off.

There's no excuse for the Pokemon Reorchestrated music takedown, either, the guy in that case literally owned his music.

>>28336188
No, the fact the newer cards are the only ones they let you use in TCG tourneys now.
>>
>>28336105
does she know you talk like that about a character she plays?
>>
>>28335333
The sue against the party is to protect the brand. Don't say dumb things
>>
>>28336215
Ash is 10 years old, so I preferred that "creaky/squeaky" voice since he IS a young boy myself. Rica Matsumoto even said in an Interview that Veronica Taylor's take is what Ash should sound like in English back in 2006. And at least 4Kids didn't employ an alleged rapist as voice director, unlike TPCi (Tom Wayland).

Sarah's far too deep, raspy, and effeminate as Ash for my tastes, also struggling to emote properly without sounding bored, but that's just me. To each their own, though.
>>
>>28336268
>No, the fact the newer cards are the only ones they let you use in TCG tourneys now.
Yes. That's called "rotation". Every few years older sets are taken out of the pool of cards you can use for balance reasons. The first one was switching to Rocket-on format during the Neo era (when WotC was still running the game). It's still done every few years, which is why you can only use the 6 or so most recent sets.

You really need to do research before sperging out about shit you don't know anything about.
>>
>>28336268
...Not the anon the responded but that's LITERALLY what rotation is.

Also they do let you use old cards if they're the same card for all intents and purposes and they reprinted it in a later pack.
If anything to criticize it'd be that West and East aren't treated the same and Japan gets more reprints.
>>
>>28336268
They did block it but thats not a huge deal desu
>>
>>28336341
>>28336344
Okay, I'll concede this point to you guys, but please explain how the rest isn't valid criticism.

Also, I found out this about TPCi's handling of the VGC recently:

https://twitter.com/BadIntentVGC/status/765682707586166784?lang=en
>>
>>28336401
This.

They barred public entry for a good reason
>>
>>28336013
how in the fuck is smoking cigarettes "social media unprofessionalism"?

you sound bitter as hell my man
>>
>>28336446
Did you even read that?
>>
>>28336446
The World's thing this year is because of an oversight on venue space. It's the only time in over a decade that it's happened, so it's a pretty reasonable mistake.
>>
>>28336401
I'd say it is a serious problem, since closing it off to the general public shows me TPCi don't value their customers' opinions or feelings.

The first sign of this IMO was when they yanked the license away from 4Kids to me just to save "m-muh money" and made the fans upset by dumping the original English crew like that, then the suing of that fan Jones (though I admit that he had partial fault, but there was no need to fine the man 4,000 dollars because of it), and their atrocious handling of the XY-XYZ dub in general is appalling. The fact the Pokemon Reorchestrated creator owned the rights to his music they took down is also not very nice of them.

>>28336215
Wrong. Veronica Taylor brought in an actual 10 year old boy, her nephew, to 4Kids at the time and his voice was much higher, thus she was allowed to go higher. Which, considering his age, was an improvement if anything over time.
>>
>>28336483
Did you read the rest? It's not just that, and I don't care much for that, just look at what JCC, BR, and MK did.

>>28336449
What reason is that?

>>28336535
The oversight on venue space is their responsibility, and I'm tired of people making excuse after excuse for TPCi's mistakes. You guys have to acknowledge the company has some serious faults at this point.
>>
>>28336542
>The first sign of this IMO was when they yanked the license away from 4Kids to me just to save "m-muh money"
I remember reading a while back that the Japanese anime staff didn't even realize what a big deal Pokemon was overseas until they saw a news article about how the first movie was topping the box office in the US. When they looked into it, they realized that the 4kids contract meant that they saw virtually no money from the overseas dub.

It's pretty understandable why they'd want the license back. (4kids was doing similar things with Yu-gi-oh)
>>
>>28336594
I agree, I'm not going to Worlds 2016 after seeing this, TPCi need to be held accountable for their mistakes rather than being allowed to get away with stuff all the time.

https://twitter.com/RustVGC/status/764118216515915776?lang=en

(BTW, I agree on the dub, 4Kids was better).
>>
>>28336630
4Kids won the Yu-Gi-Oh lawsuit because TV Tokyo improperly terminated the agreement, though, so that's not their fault.

Also, TPCi only took Pokemon away from 4Kids to cut costs, and really hurt the original voice actors' as well as fans in the process. You should read up more on what went down, and two of the current cast members (Cathcart & Rogers) acted very unprofessional on Serebii & Bulbagarden forums at the time. Here's a link:

>Sperging out over absolutely minor details in the lives of the Pokemon anime's dub cast

Have you gone to Gamestop to voice your grievances, anon?
>>
>>28336630
That's not what I read? I'd like a link as proof?

In fact, Masamitsu Hidaka (storyboard artist for Seasons 1-9 of the Anime & a writer during Seasons 10-13), looked visibly upset when he learned about TPCi's recasting on the main characters. WPM of PokeBeach did an Interview with him, linking it as proof (http://www.pokebeach.com/2008/07/interview-with-masamitsu-hidaka-at-anime-expo), and he gave off a "that's bad" vibe when he learned what happened to the 4Kids cast.
>>
>>28336826
>Didn't read the rest of it at all
>Chose to ignore the other actions and other people

Keep living the dream of ignorance, buddy, but this isn't exactly the best judgment you could employ regardless even with that point.

Name me one other Anime dub where the main character is a boy, who is voiced by a smoker. Oh wait, you can't.
>>
>>28335333
>Took back TCG from Wizards in 2001 only to shit it up with crappy holofoils and changed the rules years later to make the game harder to play for veterans, also nullifying the use of those cards
every TGC needs rotation or power creeps to sell newer cards to casual players, stop crying learn to play the game

>Took the Pokemon Anime dub license away from 4Kids by force (Pokemon being the one Anime 4Kids was generally fairly good at dubbing for its first 8 years), then recasting all the main characters with cheaper, cost cutting actors, including Sarah Natochenny who had never done any English dubbing before taking over as the current voice of Ash in the dub.

don't even know what the fuck are you talking about

>Taking down Pokemon ReOrchestrated creator's music despite the creator owning the rights to the music he composed based off the games himself.
only valid point
>>
>>28336689
The fact TPCi employed both James Carter Cathcart, a man who this article acknowledges as

"Carter Cathcart posted anonymously under the name "Old Guard Truthseeker" on Bulbagarden Forums and Serebii.Net Forums. He among other things criticized 4Kids, and praised the performance of himself as James, saying he is better than the previous two voice actors of James"

and Tom Wayland, an alleged rapist as their voice director, alone tells me TPCi have some real problems.
>>
>>28336978
>every TGC needs rotation or power creeps to sell newer cards to casual players, stop crying learn to play the game

Conceded this point already: I was wrong on this one, I'll give you all this.

>anime is shit, why you do care?

Opinion, not a fact, and it should matter TPCi's responsible for it losing popularity by handling the dub so poorly. The Anime is the marketing tool for the games, and if said tool is flopping statewide, the games lose fans they could've acquired through it.

>don't even know what the fuck you are talking about
Not my problem you're not aware of things they've done, but here, get educated:

>Successful assassination of casinos in Pokemon Games
