There is no legitamate reason Megas would get removed: they affected the VGC too much, they're all fairly popular and the merch associated with it brought Pokemon Company a lot of money. Even if they don't introduce new ones, they have to keep the old ones period, especially since shit like the Griseous Orb, Gracedia Flower and DNA Splicers keep coming back.

Folks think Megas are Gen 6's "special feature" that won't carry on to future games, since each Gen seems to have one of those.

Amie and fashion/customization have been confirmed as returning, so the list of possible "Gen exclusive" features is dwindling.

Howeverrrr given just how heavily marketed Megas have been, and continue to be, I personally think they're sticking around.

Until rollerskates are confirmed in Gen 7, anyways.
