I was playing pokemon go and because I breed pokemon in ORAS I know what the ditto cry sounds like and then that blank space appeared on my game the ekans and pidgey appeared but to the left of me on the tracks. What happened did my game glitch?

Before Gen 6, Poliwag and Ditto had identical cries. They're slightly different now, but they're still incredibly similar. If the sound is all you heard, then it was probably a Poliwag.
