>yfw aether turns out to be the true villains and team skull helps you save the day
I want this to be true so bad but Gamefreak might make the hero and villain teams depend on the version. They did in Ruby and Sapphire.
>the Ultra beasts end up joining Team Skull willingly because it's filled with dopey thugs who treat them like living things instead of Aether's cold researchers that keep them imprisoned

But the designs of both teams are very distinctive and aren't like Magma or Aqua where their outfits both look antagonistic. Having said twist makes much better sense

I doubt it really, i dont think that all team Skull guys are evil and i doubt all Aether is evil
Afterall Aether has a whole artificial island, if they were bad that would mean they'd have to leave that place and i dont see that happening
I think either Guzma might be evil while Lusamine is crazy and they both die (or vanish) while the rest of the teams change for the better

I agree, it doesn't really seem like it'd fit, also considering the way they introduced both teams. If they were parallels depending on the game you bought, you'd think they would have revealed them at the same time. Not to mention, I doubt they'd showcase them as obvious "good guys" and "bad guys" in the trailer if one of them was meant to be a villian for exclusively one game.
I think it'll be more like Aether is using skull for grunt work and then betrays them, so they fight alongside you, instead of the "skull are good guys" people are blowing around.

And now that I think about it there's the whole "12 hours apart" thing. If you take that literally then they wouldn't be able to do the different versions different villains thing without conflicting.

Yeah, I don't think they're going to be straight up "good guys" but I do think they'll help the protagonist at some point.

This is also something I didn't consider until you pointed it out.

I don't doubt this at all. At the very least I expect Lusamine to have a heel-turn, if not all of Aether.
Unless they somehow make Guzma ACTUALLY threatening then he's goofy and likable enough to make the switch to the good guys. He has a history with Kukui, too, and I'd be down for them becoming bros by the end.
