This thing isn't capable of pretending to be a human for the amount of time it would take to convince a Pokemon professor you are real and should be hired as an assistant.

My guess? It looks like UB-01 is incomplete, like there's supposed to be a sphere or body that it goes with. That second part, UB-02 presumably, is with Lilly. UB-01 resembles Lilly because it remembers her and is modeling it's appearance after her as it searches for her.

Not that I disagree but you can't make any such conclusions. The portal may have been a hyperspace portal in our own universe. That said, the way it's all phrased does suggest it's not a Pokémon and it MIGHT be from another universe.
