I do that with all my 3DS games. The reason I've hacked mine is mostly to stream video to my computer.
The only thing I've pirated is Virtual console SNES and GBA games. I managed to sneak Secret of Mana in the VC.

The only time I pirated instead of buying was BW2 and I regret it. Pokemon is just the type of game that having a legit physical copy is good in the long term

Most of the 3ds hacks don't even allow you to pirate modern games anyhow, with the exception for some custom firmwares. So yeah, I definitely still support the franchise, even though I really don't see Nintendo dropping it any time soon.

Honestly, it kind of irks me to see 3ds homebrew and hacking automatically associated with piracy. I just want to code for my cool little system and support a growing community of developers. It sucks to see this kind of thing pop up though.

Also, this guy is a fucking retard. Hacking your 3ds is one of the easiest homebrews I've ever done, with the exception of HENkaku for the vita.

Basic instructions and a very small understanding of how your hack of choice works, and you have a 3ds that's at least softmodded.

Custom firmware is a bit of a different story, but I know there's a lot of support for it online, so finding a decent tutorial honestly shouldn't be that difficult.
