Anabel could be simple confirmation of a battle tower, all the way to the confirmation of a full frontier. While it could be something else, I do think it is pointing to the Battle Tower at least.

As for the question about professors, that might actually be implying that there's a different professor on each island. Kukui might only be doing research on Melemele, and each other island has their own researcher.

A further leap of logic would be that the other professors might also give you a choice of another starter, though that's just spitballing.

As for the cypher, does anyone have the Hyrule Historia handy? 25th Zelda aniversary was recently, and that was a book about chronology with it. The reason I'm gussing that is because 288 might be a page number.

Maybe I'm wrong but what if the sprites at the bottom are rideable Pokemon? The original Chinese leak said you could ride "just about any" Pokemon which was obviously a hyperbole but that number at the bottom seems like a good amout to please fans and we've already seen a few of them being ridden.

Of note is that Cubone and Exeggcute are both there, but their evolutions are not.

It also does have Zubat and Dragonite which popped up randomly on the 'confirmed in Alola' site list

That seems like a very long list for alola forms, so my best guess would be a list of mons in the alola regional dex. The only place where it really strikes me as odd is that the Charmander and Squirtle lines are filled in, while Bulbasaur is faded. Not sure if that's significant. There's also quite a lot of Pseudolegendaries on that list as well.

A big thing with Zelda's 25th as the starting point of the Zelda series (Skyward Sword) and the sorting out of the timelines (Hyrule Historia).
Could this be a hint that maybe Sun and Moon could be given a known spot on the Pokemon timeline?
Because we have: RBY=RSE, GSC=DPPt .... BW ... B2W2
And, as far as I'm aware, X and Y have not been corresponded to any other series. If we link it to ORAS because they're in the same generation, we can assume that the events of the Kanto games also happen at the same time. If we give some sort of credence to Sinnohfags, then Sun and Moon could coincide with Diamond and Pearl remakes, and also run along with the events in Johto.
Knowing my luck, I'm way off the mark.

288 is still an odd aspect that I have no idea of approaching. Vigoroth doesn't mean shit, and no one knows how to tie it to Zelda, or if it's related at all.

I was gonna say that the faded sprites would recieve megas, and the non faded ones would gain an Alola form, but Venusaur is among the faded ones.

I can't think of anything that'd seperate charizard and blastoise from venusaur. All I know is the Johto starters are in need of something. Megas, Z moves, Z forms, or Alolan forms, they're faded out for a reason

The Anabel clue is weird, Anabel's japanese name translates to Lila, if you look deeper the name derives from Lilac which would make sense since her hair and her eye color is Lilac. Lila also means Night in arabic.

Then if you break Anabel into Ana and Bel which have definitions.
Ana - "denoting things associated with a person, place, or field of interest."
Bel - "a unit used in the comparison of power levels in electrical communication or of intensities of sound, corresponding to an intensity ratio of 10 to 1."

The Definition for Ana fits what professors do, so maybe bel is what they specialise in.

Note: both Ana and Bel are things that plural certain words. For example, Americana, which means you are knowledgeable or associated with America. and Decibel is something I couldn't explain to you its like science or math or some shit.
"The decibel ( dB) is used to measure sound level, but it is also widely used in electronics, signals and communication"

My "out there" theory based on all this, is there is going to be a professor who studies Rotom and whom CREATED the Rotom Dex.

I'm thinking the grayed out Pokemon are ones we haven't seen properly in trailers, or shown off within Sun and Moon. But I could be wrong because I can't possibly remember all the older Pokemon shown in trailers. But why are the Kanto and Johto starters listed? That's just odd for a regional Dex to have three full sets of starter Pokemon. Unless they plan on giving you a choice on each island, meaning multiple Professors?
Also, the only fossil Pokemon are Aerodactyl, Archen, and Archeops. That just seems really weird.
