Kadabra is very decent in-game. Good SpA and Speed, it's solid. Don't expect it to take hits though, even NVE will hurt

I used one in Emerald before figuring out how to trade between emulators, it's ok

Kadabra's Base Stats: 40 /35 /30 /120 /70 /105
Alakazam's Base Stats: 55 /50 /45 /135 /95 /120

Alakazam is a lot stronger, but Kadabra is still faster and stronger than most everything else you'll face. Just don't get hit.

Starmie
Dugtrio
Alakazam
Electrode
Aerodactyl
Gengar
Jolteon
Persian
Raichu

You won't encounter many of them throughout your quest.
