Scyther and Jolteon are 10/10 in my book. Lapras is a solid 8/10. The rest I don't care for.

Technically my score would be 3/6 but I weigh pokemon I like heavily and try to give the rest a pass.

Red's Champion Team in Origins is supposedly the team Satoshi Tajiri used to complete Pokemon Red the first time.

And its still pretty good by Gen 1 standards. There were no good Rock types or moves outside of Rock Slide, and they were all slow as shit and free to Lapras.

Scyther wasn't good, Zard wasn't good, Dodrio wasn't good. Jolteon was good but very limited, Lapras was good but hardly broken, and Persian wasn't actually that good, despite STAB Slash.

As for in-game play:
Charizard is by far the worst starter
Lapras is underleveled shit and one of the worst picks possible for your water type due to it.
Persian is utterly mediocre for a very long time
Jolteon is good
Scyther is bad
Dodrio is solid but is pretty much just a Zard with a smaller movepool. Good as a Zard replacement if using another starter, shit on this team.

Can confirm false. My Scyther carried me through the Elite four and wasn't even over leveled. Any pokemon with good speed + slash was over powered in gen I.

In Gen 1-3, Tri Attack was physical, so Dodrio got STAB and to use his best attacking stat.

Dodrio was actually pretty great in both R/B/Y and FR/LG!

It's an acceptable team, since he had to use Zard. Maybe drop Dodrio for, say, Vileplume? And drop Jolteon for Electabuzz.

scyter or jolteon -> nidoking (toxic + ground moves)

It's strange, that factoid about Red's team in Origins has been circulating around on clickbaity websites like Buzzfeed for ages, Reddit takes it as fact and at one point it was mentioned on Bulbapedia (don't think it is anymore though), but I've never seen the original source for it. I'd happily believe it, but the source just doesn't seem to exist.
