They used to show Pokémon deaths in the 4Kids dub and earlier Japanese seasons with Latios, Lucario, etc. and referenced it a lot with Charmander, but they've apparently been taboo since BW began in Japanese and English. The last death we got was Arceus in Movie 12 and/or J in DP (IIRC), but that's it.

Now it's OK as long as only machines/plants die, but not humans (except grannies due to old age hurdur) or Pokémon, nope.

4Kids did a fantastic job of dubbing Pokémon compared to the back alley abortion that is the TPCi dub, and that was also their weakest opening if you ask me, but it's still better than 90% of what TPCi's done.

If anything I wish 4Kids hadn't lost the license, TR's dialogue wouldn't be cringy as fuck, the Movies would still keep the Japanese score, and we'd be getting more than 12% of the Japanese music kept in the dub now. Also, the openings would be longer than 29-30 seconds, and the voice acting would be way better.

Yup, his real name is Cathcart, and he also shat on Meowth and Professor Oak, none of his voices are tolerable.

Not helping is the fact Veronica Taylor and company were literally kicked off the Series so TPCi could save a few bucks and hence they went for street or low budget talent. The only decent VAs still left on the dub nowadays are Rodger Parsons (Narrator) and Sean Schemmel (who was in the 4Kids dub as it is). Lisa Ortiz has never been a good VA to me, and the fact TPCi are having her SameVoice being the current voice director doesn't help.

Bad examples, since neither achieved much on those journeys. And if Iris basically got a Dragonite gifted to her by fate, Misty's whole ending was about how achieved almost nothing, had to return to the job she didn't want and learn to care for the Gyarados she was afraid of.

May's a better example, since her goals extended far beyond her adventures with Ash, and she decided to join other coordinators in Johto once Ash's runs for the League and the Frontier were over.

Ash's character lost its charm for me when Veronica Taylor got booted from the dub and he gradually devolved into a battle robot character who still ultimately loses because the Status Quo is God, desu. If Ash won, I may be more interesting in following a character who isn't stuck in a never ending cycle of failure.

The only achievements of any merit Ash has had so far are winning the Orange Islands and Battle Frontier, both of which are Anime only filler, and if you want to push it, beating Darkrai in DP (only to lose anyway after beating a Latios).

Japs actually pressured them hard on the Rockets. Their costume changing scene was added at the last moment, and the black suits got recolored white.

However, the Rockets didn't go back to goofiness until Decolora. They (mostly) ignored Pikachu and had successful agent missions, flew away if attacked, etc. They were great all the way until the Plasma finale, especially in Meloeta Team Rocket arc.

Platinum and HGSS were the games I enjoyed the most, aside from Red and Silver. I kind of skipped Hoenn and Gen 3 after Johto. And Dawn convinced me to go back to Pokemon after a hiatus. Gen 4 was like the pinnacle of the entire series.

I don't know how the Pokemon anime writers haven't killed themselves yet.

They have to shill the new games and new mons but at the same time they have to keep Ash, Pikachu and Team Rocket around.

They have to think of over a million different ways for Pikachu fights, overarching plots can never amount to anything and this shit has to keep going on forever.
