Why is it these Pokémon that are LITERAL ALIENS get no love? Is it because you dislike the way they look? Is it because, saturated as fiction is with freaky alien life, they look uninteresting by comparison?
>>28257190
I actually really like these pokemon.
Gen 9 is when the alien sub plot all comes together
We'll get a world wide invasion and all aliens will get a mega
>>28257190
but anon. elgyem is my second favourite out of all.
Weren't clefairy aliens?
>>28257190
Because they're not good enough to get special attention.
Uninspired psychic shitmons
>>28257225
Clefairy design isn't based on an alien. Elgyem's is.
>>28257190
The designs are cool, I don't know why but I've never really been interested in them
>>28257190
I use one in doubles. Its fun!
Can't wait to see what next tm will it get!
>>28257190
>>28257238
But their lore is alien
>>28257190
>liking general gen 5 filth
I actually really like their designs in hindsight, but in BW my favorite psychic type was Reuniclus, and I only used psychic types in one playthrough, so I never really tried to use them.
I love aliums but yeah I am not big on these designs. IDK man
>>28257260
Op is clearly talking about designs, retard.
>>28257209
One of the fakedexes I made growing up was like this. First it was the normal region, then the post-game region was alien focused, with a second set of new starters.
I used a Beheeyem in my white 2 playthrough and he was an absolute bro. The reason why they don't get much love is most likely because gamefreak made them late-game obscure physic types with average stats.
>>28257190
Sableye is also an alien.
I think the alien => alien in trench coat evo is pretty clever.
I used an Elgyem for the first time in ORAS. It made me like them a bunch more.
I don't actually have a picture, but sending out an Elgyem into battle at night, while it floats over the lit-up grass, is a very cool sight to see.
Why
the fuck
is it not number 626?
Oh no, I have to use BOUFFALANT for my Lilo and Stitch references
It sucks doubly now that we're getting a Hawaii region. Opportunity so, so missed
I love their designs, but it's really crappy.
Its gimmick is the fact that it's slow, has very high SpA, and Analytic to further boost its damage, but it has poor defenses and typing.
>>28257190
They do not really look like ayy lmaos
>>28257363
Do you seriously think GF gives a single shit about Lilo and Stitch?
>>28257408
No and neither do I. But I still wish they did that, especially since they actually introduced the alien pokémon in the generation where they COULD have made it 626
>>28257190
I love Beheeyem. It and many other Gen V Pokemon deserve some love.
I love them, especially Beheeyem. Seeing the Roswell/late 1940s inspiration in their design, especially the coat reminding me of some kind of Cold War spy.
Basically conspiracy, the Pokémon.
>>28257209
>there will never be a Pokemon game centered around exploring the galaxy and encountering all sorts of new, bizarre alien Pokemon
>tfw no intergalactic Pokedex to complete
>>28257432
if you dont care about lilo & stitch how do you remember that he was apparently associated with the number 626? checkmate atheists
>>28257481
I'm not sure I'd like that desu, doesn't sound like Pokemon to me. Maybe as a weird experimental spinoff.
>>28257190
Deoxys is better alien tbqh.
>>28257484
How can Arceus have created all pokémon if these two are aliens from another planet? Checkmate, indeed
>>28257408
Japan apparently really likes lilo and stitch
>>28257548
>Japanese Stitch anime takes place years after the movie
>Lilo and Stitch are seperated
WHY
>>28257461
Not only that, but the war of the worlds inspiration in their designs is seriously awesome. And I'm fairly certain that the brown and green colours they have are supposed to be a reference to the black and white tv monster movies. Top notch underrated design.
>>28257646
Yes, forgot about this one. They're really cleverly made, definitely my favorite Psychic type. (Cosmic type when?)
>>28257548
Doesn't mean every jap game developer is thinking about it all the time and going out of their way to reference it
I used one the first time I played black on a fan translated rom before the games came out in english. Pretty cool dude, a shame it was slow with shit defences but I guess there is always trick room.
>>28257297
It's a cave goblin.
Wasn't there a fangame/hack that let you go to the moon and capture Pokemon there?
>>28257778
It's based on the hopkinsville alien encounter.
I wish they were part Steel though. :(
>>28257926
>Wanting ANOTHER Steel/Psychic - Psychic/Steel
For what purpose?
>>28257948
Better than pure psychic.
Yes, they are my favorite weather balloon Pokemon, fellow /vp/ goers
>>28257948
It flares my autism up that they're metallic without the Steel typing. That's literally the only reason.
>>28257190
I love Elgyem but Beheyem is... Brown.
>>28257190
It's admirable they pulled off a more oddball design for an alien pokemon but sadly I probably would have cared about them more if they looked like typical Greys. And they weren't such dull psychic types.
>>28258001
I think the word you're looking for is trenchcoat.
>>28257986
They don't look metallic to me.
My favorite psychic type, and my second favorite Pokemon of all time. Funny, I actually couldn't stand looking at him when he was leaked.
>>28258045
Really? What kind of texture and material do you attribute to them in your mind? I can't really see them as anything but metallic.
>>28258063
I imagine a similar look, feel to figures and toys
>>28258063
Skin
It's just... They aren't promiment/featured much enough. They're obscure. Also their mediocre[?] stats and usability doesn't help at all. I feel like they're a bit of wasted potential. They are unique and interesting. Nice design. Nice cultural reference. Nice name, nice inspiration. Just obscure and rarely seen in the whole franchise.
>>28258001
this. elgyem looks perfect but beheeyem just looks, i dont know, rusted?
>>28258063
I see them as something like ceramic
Wake me up when Mothman is a pokemon
>>28257190
no it's just a shitmon
AYYYY
>>28258148
just like real aliens...
>>28257190
I keep forgetting about them

Sableye
>>28257680
Cosmic Pokemon are almost exclusively Psychic now. It's a pseudo-retcon if you ask me, although, Unknown, Lunatone and Solrock and others reflect tradition more so than retcon.
In a space themed region we would find an abundance of Psychic, Fairy, Rock, Ice, Steel, and Fire Pokemon. Cosmic is a great idea but I feel that because everything in space shouldn't actually be labeled by environment like most Water and Ice types are unfortunately. Desert Pokemon aren't exclusively Ground/Rock/Steel but that trinity offers a good amount of design variations. And in that same line of thought, if you want a space Pokemon game that isn't completely monotonous, leave the idea of Cosmic type in the past. In that same sense a type based not on a core energy or element would make more sense.
Fanmade space fakemon are mostly Psychic/Rock or rather Rock/Psychic (cosmic themed Psychics seem to be sub-types)
>>28257903
>>28258274
Sableye is based on the Hopkinsville creatures.
This info has made my day.
>>28257190
They tried to warn us, about the future
>>28258450
>In the same sense a type based (omitted) on a core energy or element would make more sense
Guys I fucked up
I caught a shiny one and he's absolute bro, really fun to use on trick room teams
>there are people that forget about Beeheeyem when this exists
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhoYR9DbaLU
being a pure psychic type is rough
it's one of the worst typings in the game, especially if you're slow and intended to be offensive
>>28259648
Way to ruin a good Pokemon pretty fast.
It's my favourite Psychic type but it has major issues.
Being Pure Psychic sucks. It's a bad defensive typing, it misses out on a second STAB move and there's already been a ton of pure Psychic Pokémon - Gen V alone introduced like 5 pure Psychic lines, all of which do stuff better then Beheeyem.
It doesn't turn up until late-game in an area which has nothing to do with it thematically. Despite being late-game it's encountered in its first evolution which makes it even less enticing.
Its moveset is pretty basic for a Psychic type, despite some pretty good Electric coverage it can't really use properly.
Its stats are pretty stupid. It has way too many points wasted on Attack whilst being physically far frailer than it looks. It's too slow so it dies before it's able to really do anything.
It should have been Psychic/Steel, Psychic/Rock or Psychic/Electric (a type we haven't seen yet and would've worked perfectly).
It also should've been given much higher defence to match its bulky appearance and slow speed.
>>28257190
I feel I'd like Beeheeyem more if it were colored black. Wouldn't take away from the trenchcoat look at all.
>>28257209
A Partners in Time-esque plot would be pretty cool.
-Gyms would be replaced by Alien generals
-New pokemon would be a mix of alien wildlife and regular pokemon transformed by the aliens
-The Legendary is an entire spaceship
>>28262750
I think it be better if the aliens are an evil team that manufactured megas for any alien or space theme mons
Still keep the gyms and league but have the aliens crash it
