the only exception was ORAS, they didn't think they were going to do these remakes at the time of XY

Nintendo came by, said they had to quickly release a game because they had really bad sellings at that time

and so they post poned sun&moon and seriously rushed ORAS in one year

if it wasn't for ORAS we would have gotten sun & moon last year

ITT: People who seriously think a video game developing team only works on one game at a time.

Game developing companies have to work on multiple things at one time in case one of the ideas fall flat. Not to mention you constantly have to have new things and progress to show investors. You can't just place your eggs into one basket and hope it works out in a business like game design.

So far, the only thing they've really done that they could've possibly needed the extra year for is making Alola gridless. This requires a fuckton more time than the static grid based worlds just to design. Implementing it wouldn't take that much more, though, since the ground work did exist in X/Y.

They do work at different projects of course but not all the time, In the past the directors changed between games, now they had the same team for two games in a row and they took a 2 year break between them, guess why? Becuase they couldnt work on two with the same team at the same time

In the very first beta development trailer, Masuda was wearing a lanyard from a 2015 Pokemon competition - so not very long unless they've just been drafting ideas for 2 years.
