He wasn't intimidating enough as a rival and his character was entirely crafted around his "muh Purrloin" angst so there really isn't much to think about

Gen5 as a whole is pretty huge and there's a lot of characters, easy to forget some that no one talk about like Hugh.

If you forgot about Hugh, you're a casual and seriously need to replay Black 2 while you're not 10 and can understand that Alolomola is not an evolution to Luvdisc. Hugh was easily one of the best rivals, and has the most interactivity with the player and most notable moments. He does that without even challenging the player all that much. Hugh is THAT good.

Hugh is my favorite Rival by far. I actually felt like he was a friend since he wasn't someone my character just met at the beginning of the game and I felt like he always had my back. Not to mention he had initiative of his own and had his own things to do instead of staying one step behind me and stroking my ego on how good I am for beating him.
I feel like he's close to Barry in that regard, but I've never played a Sinnoh game myself.
