I know, it really does look like one and the first time I saw it I also thought it was. But it was always called a wolf and looking closer its body and fur doesn't get as smooth looking as a red or arctic fox. It's just the coloring.

Interestingly enough the fox that we DO have isn't nearly as colorful

Most hunting in America at this point is deer and duck.

And there are plenty of those to murder without any issue.

Bigger game like bear and mountain lions isn't as common.

Hunting is also really regulated and you can only kill a certain amount a season.

>>
>>28248845
Hunting really isn't that regulated here, m8. Yes you're legally required to have hunting tags but most hunters don't even bother getting them. We also have fishing licenses but even less people get those.

The reason why people hunt deer and duck though is because they're harmless. You can go bear hunting if you want but most people don't want to fuck with bears, considering they can climb the tree right into your stand within 5 seconds and rip your face off. People don't really go fox hunting either because, what's the point? It's more challenging than hunting deer and yields far less meat.

Wolf hunting is more popular in Alaska though among the natives because muh pelts.

Felidae contains two major orders:
>Pantherinae
Which includes lions, tigers, Jaguar, and leopards
>Felidae
Which contains pumas, lynxes, cheetahs, caracals, and house cats.

American Mountain Lions are Pumas, so they're closer to house cats than Lions

The difference is we get a bunch of natural disasters to contend with too.
Live on the west coast? Hope you like earthquakes. And flash fires.
Live in the midwest? Tornados incoming.
Live on the southeast coast? Hurricanes are your forte. Which also includes flash flooding.
Live more north? You get frozen weather.
Live in Hawaii? Avoid lava. And potentially tsunamis.

It's generally only national news when a regional disaster is either massive, or happens to a different region that's not used to it.

California near the American River checking in. We have a jogger die at least ever other year by Mountain Lion here.

Tip for those who are not acquainted with them. If you are out on the trail in the very early morning and here a sound that is like a woman/baby crying. Keep carefully keep an eye on the trees above you and slowly leave the way you came.

Look up Mointain Lion sound on youtube. They are unsettling. Especially if you actually encounter it.

>Salvator merianae has recently been shown to be the first known partially warm-blooded lizard, having a temperature up to 10 °C (18 °F) higher than the ambient temperature. However, unlike true endotherms such as mammals and birds, these lizards only display temperature control during their reproductive season (September to December), and for that reason are said to possess seasonal reproductive endothermy. Because convergent evolution is one of the strongest lines of evidence for the adaptive significance of a trait, the discovery of reproductive endothermy in this lizard not only complements the long known reproductive endothermy observed in some species of pythons, but also supports the hypothesis that the initial selective benefit for endothermy in birds and mammals was reproductive

Poor little asthmatic inbred lump

Literally every breeder with a conscience says they're not worth saving and should be crossbred out of existence

Most dog breeds are shit though.

Any dog breed that would die out if not for humans, bulldogs, pugs, etc, should be bred out of existence

Yeah they have niggers over there. That's worse than spiders or crocodiles in the toilet.

Australia has a lot of cool mega fauna too. Varanus prisca was one of the biggest lizards ever recorded, and there was a huge marsupial tiger (no saber tooths though)

True. Humans are built for endurance, though. We can out-jog pretty much every animal on the planet and can heal from injuries that would be absurd for animals that aren't brick shit houses.

that's because no one lives in their natural habitats, because living up in the Rockies is shitty. Basically only hunters run into them and even then you can just walk away.
>>
>>28256234
It's gotten worse in the last hundred years as they have become less popular. If you look at what the breed used to look like in old pictures you'll see that the modern breed has strayed away from what it once was. Most of them don't even match the kennel club descriptions of what a proper example of the breed should look like.
