Fun Fact: I beat Gen 2 with only a Dunsparce, Typhlosion, and Shiny Qwilfish. Of course I had a Pidgeotto for flying and a Golem as backup. I must've played it for hours as a kid because when I got to the e4 Dunsparce was level 68, Typhlosion was level 70 and I think Qwilfish was in the high 50's.
I tried doing it again in soulsilver and I gave up halfway.
