I like it. As asinine as it is, my only issue is that gender ratio if it's not reversed to 87.5 female or atlease 50/50 considering how blatantly feminine it is. Don't mind soft resetting though.

Exactly. Although what you exactly described would be situations where we would interpret such animals as male when it's actually the complete opposite and they turn out female and yet, they look quite threatening in comparison. Several animal species have the female being much larger than the male. The animal kingdom is fucked up like that. Can't make sense out of that.

Although, yes, I might have assumed some starters to be either male or female, there's no denying it, it does happen, when you're given the idea that they can be both genders, it's easy enough to picture them either as male or as a female like so despite the odds.

And then, there's... Poppmaid. It might make some sort of sense, but as much as I'd like to try, it's really quite hard picturing it as a male despite the fact that I know there will be the possibility of obtaining it as a male and despite me knowing that shit shouldn't really matter. And although there are merman and male selkies in some vein, the mermaid/selkie concept is more largely known as female, which is why so many people have such a hard time associating it as a male and thus, like to deny it. Even the most feminine/masculine starter there was at this point hasn't had me scratching my head this much, even though I've been so subjected to feminine men tropes in anime/cartoon. I'm not sure if it's the silhouette not being all that in between or the extra accessories, but something is verging me here on my mind always drifting to the design being completely feminine even though I try my best picturing it as a male.

Poppmaid is awesome, and who even cares if it looks feminine, there have been such a large amount of masculine and feminine specific Pokemon, so who even cares. Honestly, I feel like a majority of the starters' final evolutions are very masculine-based so why is it so crazy to have a feminine based one?

Frankly, it's ugly, and doesn't look cool like a starter should. If I was a little kid I would be pissed if my seal evolved into that.

I don't like that it has fashion accessories like the ponytail and starberet. The hairband too. It would at least be better if those were gone.

I don't really have any say on this on whether it should or not. When I think about it, as long as it makes some sort of sense with the species it's based on. As I see it, I believe it's a sea lion that, as it evolved and... shed its older skin in order to become... more elegant, but still remains a fairy-ish sea lion? (This kinda goes with selkie mythology, although the thing here is that selkies would shed its skin in order to become human rather than another type of seal). It kinda gets odd from here. And I assume it sings, but then I try to remember whether sea lions sing and they can sing but... yeah, they aren't that harmonious and delightful to hear either, they're loud. She might be based on a seal that has a more soothing voice? Eh. She definitely is rocking the mermaid look, except the tail isn't entirely dark blue and it looks like she's wearing something on top of her white tail (Her old skin? Probably part of her body and just so happens to have the veil sticking out?).

Uh. Let's just call it a maiden seal, because that's how I see it more as. Not sea lion, not selkie, not mermaid. Definitely has inspiration from those, but it definitely ain't those either, although it's easy to assume why people call her any of those.
