HEY, fun fact, when GF creates a Pokemon, its typing isn't for competitive viability, but for a bit of flavor and personality for fuck sake.

A Dark/Normal type (a type combo we haven't seen before) is infinitely more interesting than the 20th pure dark type.

It'll find a niche for itself in competitive play, like literally everything else. Stop bitching.

Scizor, Weavile, Heatran, Gliscor, Landorus, Rayquaza, Ferrothorn, Swampert, Tyranitar, Magnezone, Charizard, Volcarona, Talonflame, Garchomp, Breloom, Hoopa Unbound, Celebi, Dragonite, Salamence. All have a four times weakness all are still good despite this

I don't even know why people give a shit. It already died to any good fighting attack anyway and I presume they won't be enough to make a Pokemon whose ability is Hustle a defensive pokemon so it doesn't need less weaknesses.

What most anons said so far is true and a fact. Raticate couldn't take Fighting attacks for shit back then, so adding a typing that gives him 4x weakness to it won't change a thing. Dark type will give him a nice STAB on stuff like Sucker Punch and Pursuit, if he gets those. Also, having one or two 4x weaknesses doesn't make a Pokemon trash, necessarily. But of course, you will have to be more careful with it and pack something that can deal with whatever walls it.

The only things that wall Normal/Dark are Lucario, Mawile, Terrakion and Diancie.

It will certainly learn all of Raticate's Dark moves. The only thing it's missing is Knock Off which it might get.

Not everything is done for Smogon you retarded shitlord. Hustle-boosted STAB Bite is very useful for in-game cart play, along with STAB Pursuit and TWO STAB priority moves in Quick Attack and Sucker Punch.

Normal/Dark is actually incredibly neutral stab.

Raticate always died to any fighting moves. A hidden power fighting from a scizor actually cleanly guaranteed 1hkos a normal raticate. Raticate would never survive any fighting ever no matter what.

The added dark type gives him resistances and a neat unique typing with good neutral stab.
