It's not that hard. They obviously love Pokémon to some extent. And to see others opinions about a topic and interest close to their hearts bring joy and intrigue. Some of us have loved Pokémon our whole lives and just can't get enough.

I guess I could say because i'm bored. Having not really a whole lot to do so I chose pokemon and this board to spend my time in.

But that would be slightly masking the truth.

The truth is that i'm in a very scary moment in my life. I just moved out of a dysfunctional family with no high school diploma under my belt and no job experience. Before all that I also ended a very toxic relationship with my boyfriend, and although I have very supportive friends I still feel very alone and feel I have no one to rely on. I am very alone and afraid of what will happen to me. So I resort to escapism, which happened to be Pokemon, and Pokemon led me back to here so that I can get help with completing things in-game (like team building, shiny hunting, dex filling etc.) in a desperate attempt to feel less afraid about a possibly miserable future.

I am a coward.

I don't have many friends who are in to all the different things I'm in to, so I turned to the internet to geek out long ago to fill that void. Over the years I've grown tired of the drama that tends to come with normal forums, which is how I wound up here. I still lurk other online communities, but I mostly just post here now. The shitposting may grossly outweigh everything else, but 4chan still manages to draw constantly fresh content that's at least mildly entertaining enough to keep me coming back when I have nothing better to do.

Basically, sometimes the anonymous posters here can be genuinely helpful or funny. It's worth it just to stumble across those rare positive moments even if it means wandering through a desert of inane and hostile negativity.
