I am convinced OP that this the case, I am so fucking convinced. The Snorlium Z special distro reminds me a lot of the Mega Blaizken event. Cannot obtain it in game, but when the remakes are out you get a special Munchlax gift from Floaroma Town. Unlike XY which had no real connections to Hoenn, Cynthia is in Alola, probably much like Jasmine. I can see here talking about the legendaries and how the events transpiring remind her of the events in her region x years ago.

Diamond is the game that got me back into the series. I started with Red, and played through Crystal but then I HATED RS, and Diamond got me back into it. Platinum and HG are GOAT. Gen VI might be my favorite.

I've liked the monsters from gens V and VI, but not the regions at all, or the single player campaigns. Gen IV also had my favorite meta game.
