Genwunners don't make threads on /vp/ constantly complaining that anti-gen 1 people exist.
Someone forming their opinion because of something they like, whether you agree with that opinion or not, is infinitely better than someone forming their opinion just to oppose someone else's.

Gen wunners are worse. While anti-gen 1's are annoying, at least their opinion makes sense. Gen 1 is objectively the worst gen in almost all areas (besides design).

Most of the genwunners out there are the staff of GF themselves, at least the overhead. The amount of Gen 1 hate far out numbers the amount of Gen 1 pandering and well exceeds the amount of actual genwunner fans.

Gen 1 was the original Pokemon. It's what put Pokemon on the map. It is what Pokemon is at its core. It's just fucking silly to unequivocally hate the absolutely most essential Pokemon generation.

People who indignantly refuse to explore anything past the essential core, all while coming up with incredibly poor, cherry-picked arguments in order to justify their stagnant taste are just shy of being that dumb.

I do. I don't have nostalgia goggles for that shitty game but it was boring. Sure the designs were cool (they still are today, they have never dropped) but the game lacked depth. Was very unbalanced (see: psychic types) and was tedious 70% of the time.

If I'm being honest I don't really hate gen 1, but it's subjectively the worst pokemon gen

Stop playing dumb and read your own posts. You're basically saying that any and all arguments as to why gen one was flawed don't count because they used "cherrypicked" examples.

Anti gen1, im a gen1 but my parents were too cheap to buy me a gameboy or the cards so it wasnt until 2001-02 when I could play by downloading the game onto my comp so im a gen2?


Gen 1 was where it started and there are just things added to the games now. Been over 20 years so things are different and kids who joined after gen 3 are different and dont know or cant play. Much like playing on the snes/playstation/etc for kids now. It was great back then and still is.

This was back in 1996 when it was released, so they were working on it from the early-mid 90s. Tech was limited back then and they werent making it for a console but a handheld system which was also new tech in its infancy.

Theyve worked out kinks and added new stuff now. Very few games are perfect when you look back at them but if you compare games from even 10 years ago they look like shit and have bad controls with some glitches.

For a while, I was buying into the whole "Gen 1 is now literally unplayable" meme.

Then the VC re-releases happened, and I was able to get through Red and Yellow just fine. They're certainly dated and buggy, objective flaws, but far from unplayable.

I would have to say gen 1 is one if my favorites, gen 1 is what got me into the wonderful world of pokemon. I was 5 when I got red and blue they hold a special place in my heart.


I just played through red, crystal, and x again recently. I would have to say gen 2 is my favorite, it just continued to grow on everything I loved about the first games.

My least favorite would be gen 3 the pokemon are for the most part boring. I loved it when I was a kid but oras felt like such a bland game. More like a chore same would be said for emerald, ruby and saphire.

Gen 4 and 5 were freaking amazing games I loved all the designs for both games the stories are great the game was challenging ( gen 4 not 5) I have no downs for gen 4, but gen 5 I hated how easy it got.

Gen 6 was the best expansion upon the pokemon games, you got 3d for the first time it wasnt just sprites anymore. I loved the story I wish they could have got pg13 with the war stuff. Team flare was disappointing because they were not more violent with the ways of doing things. The pokemon designs in gen 6 was amazing I finally got my damn t-rex even if it was slow lol.

After all these years even as I grow older I will continue on playing these games. The feelings I get when playing pokemon a series I have literally grow up side by side with is amazing its my favorite game series.

I mean in terms compared to today, even cell phones from 5-8 years ago were ugly as sin. Advent of hi speed internet and wifi and data connection vastly help todays kids when theyre playing games.
