An amusing timekiller hobby for online play only is fine with me. Plus I only gotta collect what I like to look at and don't have to go investing in playsets of $50 cards or anything. I pulled one Shaymin, stuck it in a binder, and it's still pristine there just as another card in the set.

I previously had a Sacred Ash instead of Skyla but Sacred Ash is being rotated out and it's not reliable. Thinking of rotating out a few cards but not too sure.

But Aroma is being rotated out completely so I will need to figure out a new fairy chain to replace them...

Also keep in mind this is the cheapo version.
If you have 4 Shaymin then jam them in instead of the Aromas and you should be good.

Probably consider Sycamore or N just to get that initial Xern/Hoopa into your hand so you can begin your romp. Once you have an advantage you should keep it due to the ability to discard enemy energy. Garb is in there for obv reasons.

Two Delinquent is overkill. One is probably overkill. You could probably add 2-3 Level Ball and 2 Super Rods.

Whoops, forgot the name field. Anyway, I'm heading to an anime con and taking some spare EXs that no one wants on eBay or my LCS. Anyone have any luck at swap meets trading cards/merch/whatever? I've never really been to one before.

What is 1 SS pack worth? I've seen trades for Xerneas; Cresselia; x2 Puzzle of Time; and some EX mons, but I don't want to jump the gun.

Also, is there a list of what's being discontinued in the rotation/when exactly is the rotation?

Another card I was struggling with, it's very situational, a deadweight, but when it's useful it does make a difference.

Been trying to get more VS Seekers for a while but I really seem to have no luck with it. I'll add more of those when I get them though.

I've run in to a lot of stadiums, and really wanted something to keep them cut down if I could. Wasn't sure which to add to my own, so went with Delinquent. I'll definitely add super rods, maybe Level Balls if i can fit them in.

Stadiums aren't only about putting them down but countering your opponent's stadium too.

Sometimes their gameplan is so reliant on that stadium being on the floor they auto lose with it down.

You will end up bricking hard if you dont have compressor to prevent the talonflame draws.

Wally is often used to speed up evos, but evosoda doesn't provide any benefit over an ultra ball or level ball. The disadvantage being that you have no flexibility with evosoda. Wally loses a lot of usefulness when compressor isn't in the format since you can't search it out.

Why would you play with theme decks?

In about a week you can get 40/50 tournament tickets if you also get the ones from the Versus Ladder.

Once you have 48 tickets you can enter 12 Theme deck tournaments.

If you play them with XY Basic Blue you should end up with around 22 packs, which should be enough to make a decent standard deck minus the Shaymins.


With that many packs you can make Rainbow Force deck and have many packs to spare since the most expensive part of the deck is the 4x Xerneas.

If you're playing expanded, you can run PBL Haxorus with Steel support and Garchomp and do decently. If you mean in standard, BRT Haxorus takes a lot of setup and has basically no built in protection, but is far from the worst option you have. Even the 130 for two energies attack on its own is decent enough. Having it survive anything or not just get lysandre'd out is going to be tough though.

It's possible for Delphox to be viable, but certainly not with cards from this theme deck. If you want to play online, the best decks to grind packs in Theme tournaments are Basic Blue and Basic Green, you get both for free. After you stockpiled some packs, trade them to build a phox deck for Standard.

As far as coins-to-cards go, yeah, it's pretty bad. It's nice if you like collecting coins, promos, and deck boxes.

As far as coin spending goes, read the op. Use em on a theme deck or two to start collecting staple cards, or just use them on packs. You won't be able to trade the packs or the cards from those packs, but it's a nice starting point for buffer your colelction. Many suggest using coins on Roaring Skies packs to pick up the literal definition of a staple card/one of the most expensive cards in the game.

Kind of shitty that the most useful card that's a staple in every deck is also incredibly rare. It'd be so much easier if it was an uncommon.

So /vp/, I come to you to talk about morals today...

This idea popped up in my mind some days ago. Y'all know how kids love the EX cards right? That's what they like to pull the most.

I regulary attend yardsales and whenever someone is selling cards, all the kids around look through the binders for EXes. And it goes without saying they don't keep track with the market so they're ready to spend 5 or 10$ on them. After all, they often buy packs and don't even get a single one.

My idea? Purchasing cheap EXes online at the right places for 1-3$ each. Think Gallade or Thundurus EX from Roaring skies. Once you have a good bunch, you attend a yardsale and sell them for 5-10$ each.

Now, I'm pretty sure this whole scheme would work, but I feel like it's ripping off ignorant peeps. Kids nonetheless. So I come here, the supreme place of moral values and highground for your opinions and thoughts. What do you guys have to say about this?

Both of these are absolutely false. Unlimited(the fact that you keep calling it legacy is annoying) lets you run max elixir. Why the fuck wouldn't it? Landorus-EX is one of the best decks in Expanded/unlimited because you have all the fighting support from across the years. It's a huge threat not to consider. You can OHKO basically any EXes in the game thanks to the fightning stadium and Muscle Band alone, but it also has a super favorable matchup against Night March, which is ridiculous in Expanded thanks to synergy with Flareon and Mew EX.

Besides, in "legacy" you have things like Bill and energy removal with Porydonk to worry about. A single energy per Celebi prime doesn't mean shit if you lose the game turn 1.

Some decks may require more energy, and others may be fine with less. It'll work in real life though. You can just mix your cards up before shuffling, the randomness of it simply comes from you not knowing what is where.
Also, most decks have cards that can get energy from the deck/discard pile without relying on random draws, so you only really need energy that you'll actually use if you have those.

That's practically the opposite of what you want to do. Bundles are very rarely anything worthwhile and the decks are literally useless.

This is objectively false. Every once in a while there comes a bundle that costs ~1000 coins (last time was two months ago I think) and has a powerful EX attached to it. Or it could be a Pyroar, or another useful card. Also, these bundles will contain the booster packs that you'd otherwise buy in the shop, except that buying the bundle also gives you the bonus card.

Buying bundles is completely useless because they're not tradeable, which means you're resorting to trying to pull the cards you want out of them, which is completely insane in any kind of trading card game. If you want a specific card in PTCGO you first grind until you have enough tournament tickets, then you do tournaments and finally you trade the booster pack you in there for the cards you want.

You spend tokens on the newest set so you don't have to "grind" for tickets and then "grind" tournaments for as many tradeable packs. It gives you a baseline of cards from each set and gives you a use for the tokens.

RS you can basically equate to 1 Steam Siege deck which is basically the baseline value pack right now everything else sells for.

There is no reason to buy theme decks.

There aren't really any decks that can abuse Versatile enough to warrant a 120 EX Pokemon Active. Although it will be cool to have Mew EX in standard again I don't see it having much competitive usage.

Also there's no news on the horizon about a Western version of CP4, or anything like a reprint set. So it's doubtful it will happen. They might've learned that LTR was a bad idea for keeping Standard fresh.
