I hate Toriyama's monsters design that aren't Freezer, Cell or Majin Buu (slim and tiny). I just can't tolerate that goofy look, and that's why I can't play any Dragon Quest game. It looks SO childish.

Just compare these monsters to any Pokémon. Dragon Quest's monsters look goofy, dumb, not so serious. Meanwhile, Pokémon usually look cute (Pikachu, Lilligant, Togetic), neutral (Blastoise, Dustox, Furfrou) or even badass (Hydreigon, Pangoro, Steelix).

Yes, there are neutral and badass monsters in DQ too, but the goofy ones outnumbers them.

Even if he wrote it, no. Toriyama isn't the kind of person to make things for a reason, he's a vapid writer so if he was in charge of the story it would be an aimless mess like everything else he ever made.

If he was head illustrator then Pokemon would've never caught on and would've died by now. If he was n the design team I wouldn't really mind, though I can't imagine he'd have had many designs approved given his approach as opposed to the design philosophy Pokemon works with. He'd not have lasted long at all in a role like that.
