Your fault for playing starter deck tournaments. If you have 10+ energies, you can expect to draw a hand of them at some point. It's very rare, though.
All the decks iv'e run have played 4 sycamore. 4 N. 4 VS seeker. 3 or 4 ultra balls and 1 or 2 Lysandre. as a basic deck template for trainers. the rest all depends on the deck type of deck your playing.
also nothing wrong with single copies of super rod, switch and escape rope.

This is the deck I was playing in this situation. Several cards are in there particularly to prevent drawing Energy cards (by filtering them out of my deck ahead of time). But when the RNG screws you over hard enough, you get stuff like OP.
Still, the only strategy I could play with those cards was the best one in the situation; my opponent conceded while searching his deck for Pokemon that could do anything against it.
