If anything, it would explain why Litten evolves into a heel wrestler. It's totally possible that Litten3 was inspired by Tiger Mask, and a general love for wrestling.

I mean, Pokemon was inspired by a childhood love of bug-collecting. Lots of Pokemon are inspired by things the designers have seen throughout their travels. I don't think it's too far-fetched to believe that a Pokemon was based on one of Sugimori's beloved childhood heroes.
