I just realized that I dislike most of the gen 5 designs, but the few that I like are some of my absolute favourites (same with gen 2 designs)

I said this in another thread, but Gen V's graphics were just ugly as hell overall with shitty, blurry sprites and terrible "animations." I ended up liking a lot of the Unova Pokemon a lot more once I saw them in XY, though garish, unappealing color schemes tend to be a global problem with a lot of Gen V's Pokemon.

I don't think I've ever had as hard a time picking a team as I did in ORAS. Because there weren't six that I wanted. Especially not nice and early so I could set up a team quickly. I basically traveled to the fifth badge before I got a team of six I liked

Unova has some of the best and some of the worst, Sinnoh is "alright, I guess" but it relies on way to many cross-gen evos that are pretty ugly, and most need to be traded with some obscure shitty item that is unique to each one. Kanto is great and while some are just awful that can be excused by the fact that as the first in the series it experimented more with what it wanted to do, Johto is Kanto but better. Kalos is possibly the best on average, but when you are adding so few pokemon in comparison to other gens then you have much less chance of fucking up.

Johto, Unova, and Kalos are probably the top three, in that order.

Unova had worst starters. Only region where I dumped my starter ASAP for Lilligant in the original and Lucario in BW2.
Their native cast is probably the most varied, with the good/bad mons spread roughly evenly.

Volcarona is still my fav mon till Gen VI.

Gen V was very hit-or-miss imo. Most designs were either fantastic or complete shit.

Every generation will have drama queens who do that, just like every generation will have people who claim they'll do it on the internet and buy it anyway. Gen 5 isn't perfect, but the amount of great designs far outweighs both the average and mediocre ones. There's an old saying that it's better to be disliked than to leave no impression at all, and that's the problem with Gen 4. I can't remember any horrible Sinnoh designs, but that's because I can't remember Sinnoh to begin with. And I've played Gen 4 thrice over.

It has the best pokegirls though so it's a wash.

Here is my thoughts:
-The only bad design out of all the Shinoh starters is Monferno. Grotle and Prinplup at least felt unquie. Monfero recycles the "tail on fire" design from the Charmander line.
-Kricktune is awesome. It looks like a musician for crying out loud.
-Shit taste for hating on Burmy and the female evo. One of the most interesting bugs.
-Bastodon isn't that bad. What do you expect a "shield dinosaur" to look like? The same thing with Lumineon.
-The Skunky,Bronzor,Snover,and Crogunk lines are great. They felt original and unquie.
-Agreed with Chingling and needs to be retconned from existance. Chimecho deserved an evo.
-Whats wrong with Hippottas?
-Electivire is a freaking yeti. Get some taste. Magmortar is bad? Magmar had a fucking ass on it's face. Probopass is clever as fuck. What did you expect out of Nosepass anyway? Its takes advantage of of it's concept.
-I agree with most of legendaries. And Phoine should also be retconned as well. Whats the point?
