Probably because in most of those you mentioned the whole twins aspect, or at least a close relation, was part of the concept.

There was no reason for the genies to all be the same, and they even seemed to realise that once the Therian formes came out.

As much as I hate them for competitive reasons, I bet there would not be half the complaining about the genies if their Therian forms were what we got in the first place

They just took generation 1 Pokemon ideas and remade then into new Pokemon. Most of the Pokemon have basically identical stats to an equivalent gen 1 Pokemon with similar designs too. The least uncreative gen.

Gen 2 was literally nothing but 1st gen rejects. There's a good reason that whenever we have a "most forgettable Pokemon" thread, the majority are from Gen 2.
