Found some free use badges on Deviant. Lots of stuff there if you want to grab a pre-made, also lots of good base designs to get you started with your mad mspaint skills

Here's on of the gyms I've done. it's a bat themed flying gym.

Figure it would be a good challenge, as bat-mons have a wide variety of types. Nobody likes a gym where none of the mons have an interesting 2nd type.

Also, head canon, the gym leader is scared of birds.

Type: Fairy
Theme: Library + Fairytales
Concept: Prospective trainers come into the library and solves riddles involving books. Instead of trainers you face pokemon that represent genres of books that correspond to the riddle you're answering. After completing the riddles a door at the back of the library opens up and you can finally challenge me.
Riddle Pokemon:
Cooking/Baking - Swirlix
Science Fiction - Ralts
Horror/Ghost stories - Mimikyu
My team:
Main/Shoulder pokemon: Clefairy/Clefable (literal fairy pokemon)
1st pokemon: Klefki (library keys)
2nd pokemon: Morelull (walking night/book light)

Forgot my gym description

It's a pitch black gym where you have to fight trainer to open lightwells in the ceiling. When the sun enters the gym, some flowers blooms opening path to other zones of the the gym. You have to battle all the trainers to get to the gym leader.

Posting the Grass-type Gym I made to test it out.

Little tough early. In comparison, Bugsy (Kakuna/Scyther) and Viola (Surskit/Vivillon) were using shitmon + bigmon for the first gym. I never played gen2 (plz no h8), but Viola was definitely a little too easy, since everyone is rocking a flyingmon by gym 1.

Might be a little heavy late as well, but that's debatable.

Also, if Heracross is your signature, and Beedrill gets dropped at 3+ badges, it should be your mega.

I'll work on moves and such later, but I've always wanted a Dark gym. I'm thinking some sort of like a back alley theme that gets darker the further in you go, with gym trainers popping out of nowhere to ambush you.

I imagine my Gym Leader as a marine biologist/ conservationist type, and the Gym itself would be either a huge aquarium or an outdoor space like a reserve.
