Decided to take my outer Pinwheel Forest catch and found a little Cubone, not bad at all! No Thick Club, but I have a feeling it'll bring me far.

Due to its decent defence, I'll grind it a little bit and hopefully it can help against Lenora. This might be one of my last updates.

Shimla died trying to capture Gabite which is a fair tradeoff imo. Shimla was pretty much replaced by Floatzel anyway so it shouldnt be a dent in the team, only problem is gabite will eventually which is a downgrade in my mind. Egg hatched to be a psyduck which is pretty underwhelming. Kota seems to be the only OG to survive, a bad sign in my mind.

I know this sounds crazy, but I don't pay attention to perfect movesets or any of that stuff. I like to give my Pokemon personality and what I want them to have, especially on a nuzlocke. I couldn't care less about their ivs, evs, natures, etc. It's all about whether I'm having fun and enjoying my bros and sis's.

The majority of that stuff is impossible to get for a Dusknoir in a nuzlocke that doesn't already have it, with having a Kangaskhan covering the actual element parts if I wanted.

Besides I've got to go up there for the move tutor anyways and grab Shadow Ball regardless, it'll come in handy for something. Not like Pokemon is hard anyways outside of romhacks.

BS Plat is in the pre-patched bit of the OP.
I just wiped to Gardenia, so for now I'm gonna give Sacred Gold another shot.
I'll just keep bouncing between them till I get a good run.

Almost lost Garchomp to Volcarona and Exeggutor to his Garchomp.
Garchomp used dig, Volcarona used Quiver dance. Volcarona outsped Garchomp turn 2 and used Bug Buzz, Garchomp was still underground. Dig almost KO'd Volcarona. Almost died to Bug Buzz, but KO'd with Dig.
Exeggutor tanked a fire blast and connected with Leaf Storm, tanked a second Fire Blast with 15 HP left and hit Garchomp with Earth power for the KO.
Everything else went down pretty easily. Pangoro got burned by Pyroar, but still OHKO'd with Arm Thrust, Starmie survived Gyarados, Rhypherior took out Honchkrow and its substitute with Rock Blast, and Beedrill took out Mienshow with a Pin Missile/Knock Off combo.
I need EQ on Garchomp bad.

So I'm gunna do a Monotype nuzlocke of platinum sometime soon and I was wondering if it'd still be a nuzlocke if I messed around with the "first encounter is your only catch on each route" rule. Like, I wouldn't catch anything on routes without pokemon of that specific type, but I could catch multiple pokemon of said type on other routes. Of course I wouldn't cherry pick either, first pokemon of said type I find I have to catch.
Would it still be a nuzlocke or just a permadeath run? Maybe you guys could tell me how to actually go about this sort of thing?

- Successfully replaced my old team with a brand new one.
- Went from a Magikarp to a Seadra.
- Went from a Pichu to an Alakazam.
- Successfully DESTROYED Green, literally didn't got hit during our match and all my Pokémon OHKO'd his Pokémon. Alakazam Psychic'd Golbat, then Primeape Brick Break'd Houndoom. Ninetales Flamethrow'd Jynx in one hit thanks to Houndoom's Sunny Day. Finally, he disposed of Kadabra and Flaaffy using Dig.

But really, a stray crit can end even the greatest of Pokemon, so I see no point in really building up all that stuff just to lose them on random chance. Seems like a waste of time to me personally, when I could just be playing, forming bonds, and not having to worry all that much about min-maxing and stuff. I really dreaded Whitney, but she turned out to be a pushover. I had Ash roar out the Miltank and worked on that first, then switched to Dusty once it started rolling. Dusty rolled harder and better. Clefairy stood no chance, either.

Well I'm not him. I am using my own randomizer for my own nuzlocke though. Yes I have legendaries turned off and things at a similar level, not similar type though. Granted I've got largely a lot of garbage Pokemon either way.

Random really sucks when you're getting Sonic Boom and Dragon Rage early on, its a nightmare. I did one awhile back where one of the starters was a Togepi who didn't have a single hp damaging attack.

I just caught an Ariados, Koffing, Golbat, and Venonat in a row.

Of these four Poison-types should I add to my team? Golbat might be the best investment but Venonat's Psychic attacks are already coming in handy.

I think I'll go for Venonat, for now, at least. Its Powder moves will let me spread status around (my Skiploom only Poisons, I could use a sandman) and although both Venomoth and Golbat would contribute to my team's large Rock weakness, Golbat would also contribute to my enormous Ice weakness. But if Venomoth gets bumped then Golbat's next in line.

I also thought Route 42 had nothing but dupes but then a Marill pops out at me, so I've finally got another Water-type, which is neat

Hey guys, this Nuzlocke is actually the first time I've played a Gen II game in a long while. Does Crystal use "But it failed," "It didn't effect [foe]," and "The attack missed!" interchangeably, or am I doing something wrong?

Like, I get that Supersonic has bad accuracy but I don't think it can fail the way PoisonPowder on a Steel-type can.

First time went great, picked Punchbag and got KO by Bugsy... OK.

Second time, a Weddle poisoned my Totodile and crit it at level 9... OK.

Fourth Time, Bugsy murdered my mons after 1 Sword Dance... I even had a Gible...

Was nuzlocking Moemon Emerald. Ran into a double battle at the exit of victory road. Was completely destroyed by a Slaking/Gardevoir dou. Gardevoir used Skill Swap and unleashed the Slaking.

Depends on how much you want to spend and what features you want. If you only want it for DS games an R4 is fine, and also cheap. Not very durable though.
In my experience either an Acekard or a DSTwo would be a good choice.

Grass types will be kinda important since Bertha pretty much becomes a non-issue from just having one. You could use Abomasnow but Snow Warning will turn out to be more of a hindrance to the rest of your team rather than a buff for just one.
Floatzel with Ice Punch should deal with Garchomp since it'll more than likely outspeed.
Magnezone can wall all of Lucian apart from Gallade which will get walled by Gliscor if you use it. Also Gliscor will pretty much solo Volkner with no issue. Might wanna watch out for Ice Punch on Electivire though.
For the fifth I guess Toxicroak or Alakazam. Something filler that'll just help out overall.

It's a dark day for my Black run as well. Continuing my curse, which I only broke in Platinum, my starter died in the 20's. Teacup took a crit Wake-Up-Slap followed by a crit Low Kick from a Timburr in Cold Storage.

I added Frozone to the team and trained him up to fight Clay, figured it'd be an easy fight. It went down like this.

I mostly ask because I'm doing Platinum and you have times where you go across the region and its a bit of a pain. Like right now, I've got to go all the way back to Jubilife from Celeste Town, and that is gonna be a bit of a pain.

I mean I'm already gonna have to have a 4-5 man team when it comes to the stupid amount of HMs later with rock smash, rock climb, strength, etc. Thank god for that change by the way coming in S/M. HMs have been cancer since I was 9 playing Red.

I think I've lost about six Pokemon in ORAS to double battles. Every one of them has had horrendous typing for me

2. You get at most 5 attempts to catch a Pokemon due to catch rate.
3. For something like HGSS Safari Zone each biome is a different area.
4. Only one attempt, you don't catch it, you're out of luck.
5. Go until you finally catch something and that is what you get.
6. Go until you finally catch whatever you ran into first. So Rhyhorn for instance, go until you catch it.

Those are the ones I've seen personally. I like a combination of them though outside of the last one. Safari Zone is a pain.

I came up with a nice punishment way to do the Safari Zone, I'm going to hunt the 1%/4% pokemon in each area and catch em, then let the thread decide which one stays and banish the other 3.
Since its randomizer I don't know how each of their run rates will be and I also don't know how much money its going to cost me just for one pokemon already, since I've spent 1500 just to get the pokemon in central area.

Slight update without template. Next run I'll be using a different one, because I can't easily edit things on the template without having to create a completely new one.

Just got through Chargestone Cave, everyone managed to survive, despite some harrowing moments. Frozone evolved, and Cuck is leveling fast. Now onto Route 7 for a new Pokemon, and Celestial Tower. Right now we've got:

This region has shadow Pokemon, so the rules I'll be using are:

>If it faints, put in death box

Don't know whether or not I should use the first-per-area rule for this, but I'm leaning towards using it.

This is quickly turning into "Sandslash wrecks fucking everything" and I'm okay with that. Morty was fucking tense, Dusty got Cursed and Mean Looked so it became a race against time. Won it right before the final tick took her down.

Nat's cleaning house. Can't wait for her to evolve.

Ditched Poliwhirl because without Poliwrath, I just don't think she'll carry weight later on. I replaced her with my second Slowpoke, who'll be an admirable replacement for the inimitable original.

Not sure what the future holds but Big Nugger's probably on the chopping block. He's good, but I could use more type diversity. But he'll be a reliable switch-in if someone dies later.
