There will only be a few Megas. Mostly fan faves like Milotic, Arcanine, Flygon, etc.

There will in fact be a Trial and Totem of every type. You can obtain the corresponding Z Crystal after beating the Totem Pokémon.

The captains of Akala Island (fire, electric, grass, water) can be visited in any order. This is why the gen 5 Exp yield is back - so that you can go in any order without being under or overlevelled.
This means you aren't shafted for picking a particular starter - you can find your starter's Z Crystal first if you wish.

Because of the gen 5 Exp yield, the game is slightly harder than XY. However, Rotom-Dex shows you exactly where to find trials and crystals all times, and this is what we will be complaining about. Similarly to previous DS games, you can hide the map function.

The PSS will return and will be nearly identical.

Alola Forms evolve as they normally would. There is a holdable item that can allow them to evolve into their regular forms. Pokémon that require hold items to evolve will therefore not get Alola Forms.

Vulpix and Sandshrew are version exclusives, as are .

Megas are back. You can find mega stones all over Alola, but you cannot obtain your Key Stone until post-game. There are around 20 new megas. The Z-Ring can carry 5 Z-Crystals and 1 Key Stone.
Your Bag has a "Stone" pouch for Z-Crystals, Mega Stones, evolution stones, eviolite, etc.

As you progress in the game, wild Pokémon are more likely to flee.

There has been a rideable Pokemon that has not been revealed as of yet.

There will be a new ice type that isn't an Alola form.

Hau's pichu will eventually fully evolve into an Alolan raichu.

Guzma will be Archie #2-- A guy doing punky bad shit, then realizes what he's doing is wrong. Possibly will fight on your side against a greater evil.

Rockruff will be your first capture (like the special Poochyena in ORAS), or given to you by someone.

There will be new minigames in Amie.

Rotomdex will be unusable as an actual Pokemon and will only pose as a more unique dex.

It will be short and too easy.
They're gonna balance the exp share but in return all the trainers will be weaker.
Each island will only take about 3 hours to complete.
Islands have unique pokemon, except in water.
Around 15 pokemon species by island.
Post-game will be a battle house.

There is a reason for the low lvl curve about the lvl 30 ariados you all saw here

Actually there isn't a lot of trainers to battle in the game, and you won't be fighting every captains of each trials ( mostly half of them )

Your character, with your mom and meowth, are in holidays in Alola. They do not come from Kanto ( because muh japanese trailer ), nor they come from Kalos.
They come from Johto. Which is actually ancestral japan, that has a strong link with the japaneses buildings in Alola

Why Johto ? Well it's the smallest region, so it's the one you can remake the quickest.(Johto size is about the same as the largest island of Alola) That's right Johto is "post game" Alola
"Post game" because it's still in the story, solgaleo and lunala have a link with Ho-oh and Lugia
BTW dont expect the new safari zone from HGSS nor pokeathlon, there isn't even the frontier from HG SS, there is a frontier in the game but somewhere else.
There is a league and mount silver(!), your father is at johto and is a gym leader.


Trainer customisation is back, that you already know

What's even better is that "secret bases" are back too.

Back ? Well, it's not secret bases anymore, it's more like an actual house, there is some empty spots to build a house in each island and at johto to, you can only have one at once.
The other spots can be taken by your friends house so you can go and battle the NPC here.

These games have a really strong "animal crossing" feelings because of that. You can clothe, you can have your personnal house and see the ones of your friends, and there is tons of little quest to do with the NPC each day, so the game is very much alive.

It's the first games you will actually feel like you "live" in the pokemon world.
