Super is the one I'd like to experience, at least right now. Gates to Infinity is the one I'd chose, and I don't expect you to know why, considering your post. For that last one question, I probably wouldn't come back, because I wouldn't have my memories anymore. At the moment it's not something I'd want, but a few years ago I thought it would have been great.
Since I'd go with Gates to Infinity, I hope gameplay elements don't actually count. Even though it wouldn't be a problem, it would get boring soon.

I don't know what's up, since Sky Editor usually handles DS roms just fine. If it still doesn't work, you could always start the game normally, make a save, then edit the active and benched Pokemon list, and the History tab, assuming you want custom starters.

I don't see why you'd ever want to evolve anyone anyway (besides starters if you picked based off of their second/final forms), since doing that makes them disappear forever because you only get one or two of each species.

I have a question for Super.

At 699/720 but no missions left except for Arceus which I'm guessing I'll get his mission when I'm at 719/720. I think all of them are travelling. Do I have to go back and redo every single dungeon? Is there a way for the game to hint the location of these travelling pokemon?

I got the data in the pic from serebii but I'm not sure how much to trust since there are a few things wrong there.

I checked every town and then went to do another dungeon because some pokemon appear and disappear during different days and Paras ended up being in B9F of Purifying Cave in the Water Continent.

From my experience, I tried to force my partner as a Mightyena when I was already using a Dark type starter, and the game instead made me use "??????????", which first showed up as a totem pole in front of the guild, then became my starter. The game froze as soon as I entered Beach Cave. Save editing my partner to be the same type as me worked fine, though.

I doubt that's the problem he's having though, since his game freezes at the mission result.

When you use Sky Editor on a ROM, the edited ROM has a reduced filesize. I think your issue might be related to whatever Sky Editor does to the ROM in the process of editing it. Unless you use glitch mons or something, your starter choices shouldn't cause problems like this.

Only some of them, like Poochyena in Lively Town, Budew in Serene Village, and Manectric in Noe Town, to name a few. It should be clear who you have and don't have, since bubbles show up above their heads if they want to talk to you. The rest are travelers in dungeons or have missions.

I used YAWMM to install the Wiiware wads. They're region free, so it should work even on an American/European Wii.

I'd also recommend Priiloader for some convenience like region free discs (if you still buy Wii games) and such, but that has nothing to do with installing the games. Also bootmii like what that other anon said.

Skitty is OP. Your starter usually gets benched in the postgame anyway, so don't think too hard on it. Grass types get shit on real hard, since three of the legendary boss fights are strong against them. Your combo doesn't seem bad.
I usually go Totodile+Treecko, Totodile for the team base design, and Treecko to evolve into Grovyle and then use in the postgame. Totodile gets benched.

Got Wooper as my starter and picked Oddish for testing purposes (making sure the portraits work ok since the darkest color becomes black).

I've love to take a crack at giving some of the custom mons some of the missing animations they need, if I knew the format and limitations of the sprites of course.

Making Wooper and Oddish here do that little cheer over forming a team would've been fun instead of having them run in place.

Do I need to play the DS games first or can I just jump to the 3DS games?

The three helpers you get when you start Pelipper Island? I picked Totodile/Treecko/Tepig, but when I brought Totodile into a dungeon he didn't gain any exp. whenever I defeated an enemy. Stat boosters also didn't seem to work on him. The regular Totodile that I recruited in the story gained exp. just fine.
