The leak that implied this Pokemon also referred to it as a hallucinogenic mushroom, ie. a magic mushroom. Naturally they probably caught on they'd have to subdue that basis a bit but the fairy type remains as a reference to how it's a magic mushroom. I think it's pretty fitting.
