Is Pokemon Amie a Gimmick

I like it a lot. I just wish it didn't have the extra EXP bonus. Between that, O-Powers, the EXP Share and the fact that switching Pokemon gives all Pokemon the full EXP now, it's just so much stuff you have to artificially restrict yourself from in order to not become overleveled.
