I kinda want to chain fish for a shiny one quite early in sun/moon and then get an eviolite instead of evolving him, 'cause I usually end up just getting a Poliwrath to make him more viable.

Never been a huge fan of the shiny, not terrible but nothing amazing. Personally I think a shade of purple would look nice in the poli line. I plan to use one with evilolite on my SM team as well. Probably going to transport it from Y as a poliwag. Honestly poliwhirl isn't terrible if you don't evolve it, poliwrath and politoed are quite slower while poliwhirl with swift swim becomes quite speedy. Also poliwrath's fighting type can be quite a hindrance adding a lot of new weaknesses. I wouldn't feel bad not evolvung it, not like poliwrath or politoed are phenomenal pokemon.
