Let's face it. Pokémon, as games and stories, have never been good. HGSS is probably my favorite just because it's more fun than the others, but that's not saying much.
That said, Gen 5 has the best, most interesting designs.

My favorite generation is 5 because most of it are great designs and it's only a few that are bad

Lilligant, Galvantula, Chandelure, Excadrill, Volcarona, Emolga, Krookodile, Carracosta, Braviary, Darmanitan, Golurk, Scrafty, Audino, Mandibuzz, Reuniclus and Bisharp (and all their evolutionary relatives) are all wonderful Pokemon and I'm glad gen V brought them to us, I think it has the best regional dex of any Pokemon game so far

I'm also glad it was the gen that finally did away with shitty baby Pokemon

The starters and legendaries are all shit for the most part though
