What are these things surrounding Pallet Town?
>>28017522
Trees.
>>28017522
It's a wall
>>28017522
Additional pylons
God dang Joe Jack keeps moving the propane canisters I tell you, h'wut.
>>28017522
Look at the definitive Gen 4 version and find out
>>28017522
>>28017522
The limits of a child's imagination.
>>28017538
>>28017577
Gen 1 had trees though, but those things are still visible.
>>28017639
Huh. Good point.
But still doesn't matter since Gen 4 Kanto (and Gen 3 I guess) are what you should be looking at
>>28017522
Literal road blocks
>>28017542
Make Pallet Town great again.
leftovers from the war
>>28017522
because in gen 1 GF couldn't into good map design
even the first town in the first fucking Final Fantasy looks better than this shit
thankfully, they got better
>>28018238
The NES was more powerful than the Gameboy lol
>>28017522
Gravestones of those who went into the grass without a pokemon.
>>28017522
Hay bales covered in metal.
I always thought of them as concrete pylons
>>28018284
The GB was dramatically more powerful than the NES and it's certainly not what decided the design of the first towns on those games.
trees you retards
>>28018558
What if the posts were markers for where they were going to plant those trees?
Ngl, as a child, they always reminded me of marshmallows. Yummiest starter town
>>28017522
Hills
>>28017522
Rock walls. Pallet town is a valley I suppose
>>28017522
I dunno. Back then I didn't think too much into it and never actually looked at them other than a way to fence off the game space.
>this is a """""""""""""""""""""""""""""TOWN"""""""""""""
FUCK
>>28017554
underrated.
>>28018394
same
>>28018521
nice bait
>>28017522
Databases.
Contaiment pylons.
>>28019211
What's bait about it? The only significant technical limit going on is FF having to be careful about slowing shit down by having more than 8 sprites line up on a scanline (Final Fantasy used the flickering technique), which would be taken up by the player and 3 NPC characters because each was 2 sprites wide.
>>28018521
More powerful in terms of processing, not graphics. And it was a total bitch to program for.
>>28019603
Its graphics were equivalent or better in any space except having the correct colors. Even the AMOUNT of colors on each palette is the same. Which is why GBC blew NES out of the water.
Also, have you ever fucking tried to program for either console? GB is a smooth-sailing dream compared to all the bitchy dysfunction the NES makes you put up with.
>>28019708
No but every story regarding GB game programming I have ever read revolves around it being a bitch. Especially due to cart limits. The GBC carts were a godsend for the system. Very few GB games are even really playable. Sure they could do what the NES could but the ugly ass screen and the incredibly limited pallet of colors made games ugly as sin more often than not. Games like Links Awakening and Pokemon are in the minority.
