Is there any point in running a Z-Crystal over Life Orb?

Depends on the base power of the moves. If it's something ridiculous like 300, yeah. If it's "only" 120-200, then not really.

One gets life orb, another gets z-move

It's also a reason for expert belt, you use that on the guy with the best coverage and your can give life orb to somebody else

having a one use nuke hanging around could come in handy if you play it right

I would imagine it would be useful on some pokemon to hit a hard counter or something.

Like Magnazone traps your Skarmory but surprise, your spikes is now a 150-ish Base power Earth Attack.
