The air vents are meant to make it punch harder and faster, which ties into Skill Link, as it's about Heracross hitting REALLY fucking fast using the jets in it's arms.

They still screwed it up.

The lower horn is positioned like a nose as Heracross holds its breath. It needs to be longer and at a higher angle to actually look like a hercules beetle.

it's not an issue of the game not being canon. we all know in some cases the 3d models do a poor job at portraying the pokemon. it's simply an innacuracy.

you dont need the anime to understand the tiny head heracross it's how it's supposed to be, the anime pictures are simply there to better illustrate the point since the poses are more dynamic than the regular game sprites, making it easier to get the point.

There is no better design than Heracross.
It's literally the concept of pokemon.
Tajiri was a bug collector, and that was the original idea for pokemon, to collect monsters.
>"pocket monsters", so the monsters could be small, like bugs.
And heracross being part fighting, represents that pokemon could also fight.

Right, thats why so many side and profile shots of Heracross in the anime show it's head is not an outward segment of it's body. And thats certainly why every model/sprite in the game, and art even from the cards shows the usual flat face of Heracross. Oh but no, it's that one screen shot from the anime that dictates Heracross' design.
