Post game should be divided in two

Facilities and story line.

Make a big story on a different place like fire red sevii islands combined with delta episode and ALSO make a battle frontier.

With shitton of exploration on the main region once it's done, tons of opened up caves/paths/etc.

And maybe emerald frontier but improved to make up for ORAS.

This, this is probably the best game freak could do, the rest of the game could be meh t best and this would still salvage a lot of it.

Aside from the fact that a good BW2 style postgame would be great again, the pokedex is already bloated and only going to get worse. I'd prefer that they realistically limit the amount of new pokemon and spend the time saved on improving the rest of the game.

As long as the old Pokémon only show up after you beat the E4, like in Black / White. I'm sick of seeing old Pokémon in the main routes. As much as I love most of the monsters, it kills the identity of the new regions when old Pokémon show up or when they cram 30+ 'mons in a random route, like they did in X/Y.

70 new Pokemon, hands down.

I loved the all-new dex from Black/White, and design wise its still my favorite generation, but for the long term? Less new Pokemon means that each Pokemon we do get is likely to be more curated, more interesting, less redundant, more memorable, easier to balance in consideration with current Pokemon. It is better for Pokemon as a franchise vs. Pokemon as an individual game.

I don't even really give a shit about "postgame" because over the past two years I have learned that my definition of postgame and /vp/'s is wildly different and I don't really give a shit so long as I have a solid competitive ladder to interact with and making a team isn't complete dogshit.

If they do a good job building the meta, "stagnation" won't really be a huge issue because a wide swath of Pokemon will be viable. They did not do a good job of building the meta during Gen VI with MegaKang, MegaMence, Xerneas, etc., but that doesn't mean its impossible.

It would help if they were more willing to tweak already existing Pokemon more to make them more viable. So many Gen I/Gen II Pokemon still have middling stats and lazy abilities. I don't even think that every Pokemon needs to be viable, some Pokemon just aren't and that's fine, but the power creep since Gen V has been ridiculous.
