Started up a run. Outside of getting those useless fucking letter faggots, these are all the catches I could get without my Totodile critting them to death.

The entire beginning of this game is just a bitch. I think the first 3 gyms are some of the toughest in the series if only because:

>Gym 1 has an auto type advantage on your starter. Offset by the free monkey, but if they can get a few Work Up's up, they can hit like a truck
>Prepare for a death against Lenora. Right after her Herdier goes down, she will use Retaliate with her Watchog, which WILL one shot you most likely.
>the Burgh --> Bianca --> Cheren gauntlet in Castelia has ended me a few times.

If you can get past Elesa with minimal damage, the game does ease up. It's getting there is the hard part.

Okay, /nzg/, I'll update you on what I've decided to do. I will eventually be returning to Emerald, but just not now, the scars & wounds are just too fresh. But I will be completeing a full Nuzlocke run (Win, or Lose), Gen by Gen, up to Gen IV (cause XY was bad, and I now prefer Emerald over ORAS). The attached picture shows the games I will be playing.

Also, thanks to those of you who voted in the StrawPoll for the next "Nickname Theme". I don't think any of the options besides "Desserts" have a chance to catch up, so it wins by default!

So, Misty out of the picture. Buzz took it like a champ, KO'ing every single of her Pokémon except Togetic, as Starmie had paralyzed him and I wasn't about to leave him to his luck against Metronome. Annie finished Togetic off with ease.

I use the Pokémon pictures from the OP. I left you a medal so you can copy the layer style and paste it on the new medals you win. Everything should be pretty much self-explanatory if you are familiar with Photoshop and layers. You can delete the Pokémon FireRed and Omega layers, as well as the trainer, if you don't plan on playing that hack.

I just beat Blaze Black 2. There were too many close calls to count, and I used about 100 hyper potions, but nobody died to either the elite 4 or Iris.

I originally put Dogars the Weezing on the team because he didn't take too long to grind after Princess the Jelicent died in victory road, but he ended up being the MVP.

I would go with Umbreon instead of Jolteon. You have a perfect balance between Magmar, Horsea, and Gloom's weaknesses. Baltoy should be able to protect Snorlax from Fighting Types, and if you had an Umbreon, it could check Baltoy. It seems like the safer play to me, but you're the man with the Eevee.

He's just hard like all the other gym leaders. I've been skipping everyone (except Brock) until I get done with Silph Co. and need Surf.

Koga is just mean. His Pokémon just always seem to deal more damage and take less. With Toxic on his mons, it's hard to use Antidotes and Potions to keep HP up. I haven't seen an anon beat him yet, there was a guy that made it to Erika but I haven't seen him post in a long time.

It's very hard to get a few levels on him; his ace is a 50, which means you're looking to be around 55 to start making a difference. I've knocked him down to his last few Pokémon, but Crobat always gets me. It doesn't help that 2 of his 6 know explosion; you can't predict when they go off, so you can't switch to a bait mon. It was bad enough that not even a level 50 Snorlax couldn't take the hit. Switching to something as a sacrifice can't gaurentee the explosion, they might just take him out with damage. What's worse is when Koga uses a potion, meaning you've got them down to the wire and you don't know if he's going to pop or start the defusing all over. He's just one tough cookie, I'd hate to even look to Sabrina. Psychic types and Ground types are few and far between, even then you still have to deal with the fact that he has an Electrode, meaning you'd have to use a Ground type, and Pokémon with Levitate, meaning you need a Psychic type too. Your team needs to be ready for him, and I just haven't been up to snuff. I've been liberal with training up to him, but this time I'm going to get up to 57 across the team before even trying.

I really want to blind Nuzlocke my first playthrough of Sun because the ruleset makes the game so much more interesting when you're being more careful instead of just zerging the E4 until you win, but I don't want to miss out on cool new pokes from getting Rattata Zubat and Pidgey fucking everywhere

It's kind of bullshit actually. Roxie, which is the 2nd fucking gym, has a Golbat that moves lighting-quick and has Nasty Plot so it can set up the first turn it's thrown out and immediately start sweeping your team with double boosted (usually quadruple) Air Slash so it's nearly impossible to actually beat unless you luck out inside of the Virbank Complex and get a Magnemite or Beldum.

So I just caught a Kabutops in my Platinum Randomizer, and I'm trying to figure out who to sub out right now.

Gligar seems rather lack luster only knowing Poison Sting and Quick Attack at Lv. 17 and doesn't seem all that useful in terms of moveset.

I also have a Houndoom that is Lv. 12 or so compared to Kabutops Lv. 14, and I do already have a Lv. 19 Numel, but I also have a Lv. 20 Poliwhirl and she's been a true Queen.

Should I just stick with what I got and not worry about Kabutops or what? I'm gonna need someone that can learn cut and I always feel bad about teaching cut to my starters.

So my Black Randomized run ended with Lenora's Watchog mercilessly slaughtering my team of musically-themed monsters. If only Evanescence could get off one more Psybeam....

Back in the game. Playing more conservatively has helped me keep many of my mons. I just switched Heimlich for Tullip and good thing I did: a bugcatcher's Pineco self-destructed on his face. I don't think a Butterfree would have survived that.

So far, no losses to regret. I'm thinking which Pokémon should I take against Lt. Surge. Breloom has a lot of speed and strength, his Mach Punch is excellent against metal which Surge is bound to have, and his headbutt is fantastic against anything else. I just worry about a possible self-destructing Pokémon he may have...

- Surge sends out Flaaffy! Mushie quickly disposes of it with Headbutt and Mach Punch.
- Next comes Manectric, which paralyzes Mushie and Flamethrowers him, almost killing the mushroom Pokémon. I switch Annie in, and Manectric again paralyzes her and uses Flamethrower. I spam Super Potions until I can finally bring him down with Fire Punch.
- Chinchou comes in, and his Volt Absorb means Annie is useless. I switch Mushie back again, and kill it with two consecutive Headbutts.
- Jolteon comes in. Mushie kills it with a headbutt and a Mach Punch.
- Now is Magneton who arrives. Mushie Mach Punches it, but Magneton paralyzes Mushie! Surge cures Magneton with Moomoo Milk, and Mushie again Mach Punches the Magneton. A second successive Mach Punch defeats Magneton!
- Now it's down to Mushie and Raichu. Mushie keeps spamming Mach Punch, paralyzed, while Raichu focuses for an attack. Eventually Raichu falls despite his Berry!

Now it's three medals, no losses! I knew I could count on Mushie, killed 5 of Surge's Pokémon all by himself. Such a bro.

I usually use a failsafe with nuzlockes for HMs since they're required and you could get a situation where you have nothing and can't proceed. Usually if that happens I go and catch a Pokemon for the sole purpose of progression but never use it.

Also I feel you on Blue, last I nuzlocked leaf green, I had blastoise by Pokemon Tower at like Lv. 38, got cocky and his Ivysaur killed him and the rest of my team. It was brutal.

Beat Erika, now Gloom can finally be strong with Giga Drain which is one of the few updated moves in this game with a whopping 10 PP instead of 5.

Nah I think within the circumstances given, I was well prepared. Anything else would have seemed to be overkill. I know this isn't how the game works, but getting flinched by headbutt even 4 times in a row is 0.81%. I find people ITT always saying "oh well prepare as if a critical hit is always about to happen", but this is next level paranoid, if every battle I am expected to prepare for this. I may as well over level my entire team 10 levels above the gym and carry around 50 potions, just in case

Chuck is such a cunt. Critting left and right. Now I lost two of my longest, and favourite, members. I'm sad and pissed.

Luckily Goldenrod sells fire stones, so I could train Logi. And I caught a Golbat before facing Petrel. Still grinding those two.

Also decided to train my own Hariyama and Electrode, so I have something for Jasmine.

To increase Golbat's happiness quickly, spam him with Potions. Like seriously, buy dozens of potions, go into a battle, let him get hurt a bit, then after the battle use potions on him. He will evolve in no time.

I had to restart twice. I had done a save right at my starter choice so I could at least skip the opening shit. Choosing Snivy also sucks. Can't hit for SE against Cheren (Pignite can if you grind to evolve it), and weak to the following two Gyms.

Ive barely leveled Locke since Cheren.

Viridian Forest was a breeze between Brave and Sonic's Defense Curl + Rollout combo. Terrified of early poison but made it out unscathed.

Thanks. Dumwore (Dumb whore) is the only one I regret. I named her because she was being a little teasing slut and wouldn't stay in the ball and nearly killed Mustard because of it. But she's been a huge help so I feel bad.
